@@aaron827 in the sub there was one of the funniest moments in the show based around the fact that he speaks japanese, in the dub they changed that scene because it doesn’t make sense with them speaking english and swapped it for a less funny joke, but it was by necessity.

There's actually no filler in Steins;Gate. Every episode moves the plot forward in some meaningful way. No way you could cut any of it out without creating problems in an already extremely complicated plot.

Sure, if you have knowledge in the relevant fields you can appreciate it more, but it does not mean your intellect is above those that fail get it and vice versa. Same thing with Ledger’s Joker. I never got bored watching the first 10 episodes as it gives me some hints of an actual anime taking it's time to fully express to who were the characters as a person and the first 2 or 3 episodes actually got me hooked when the anime discussed the actual real life time travel theories and on how these theories will blend well with the plot.

steins; gate is in what i would say are the top 3 best animes out of everything i see, but Overlord (the franchise, not just the anime) will always be my favorite. I tried getting my friends to watch steins;gate It went about how it did in this video I understand it might be slower paced than what people are used to But if they just paid a little more attention to the show instead of spacing out after 5 seconds of there being no explosions Maybe more could love it for what it is

you gotta watch it at least twice to really appreciate the first half particularly the 1st episode, i promise when you know everything and all the story, the first episodes are sooo good with all the foreshadowing

Yeah this particular line didn't sit right with me. Sure, there other anime are great. Calling Steins;Gate the GOAT is hyperbolic. But like, c'mon. The second half of the show would not have hit *nearly* as hard if we didn't spend so much time with the characters living their lives normally. I can't watch any dialogue scene from the first half of the show without this stupid grin on my face because just watching these people *talk* to each other is done so well.

The first half of Steins;Gate walked so the second half could run. You can't have one without the other. The second half of the show wouldn't be nearly as critically claimed as it is without being set up in the "filler" episodes

I actually really loved Stein's gate, the whole science adventure series is pretty good.

The first 10 episodes were essential to building the characters and making us grow on them before the darker turn on episode 12. Without those first episodes we wouldn’t see the relationships between the characters as clearly,we would barely know them and the events and betrayals wouldn’t have hit as hard as they did Honestly in my opinion it doesn’t even feel like filler it’s more like the plot slowly developing into something larger and more complex then how they first make it out to be

Plus let’s not forget the amazing loop at the end and how it aligns with the beginning and Makise saying he wanted to talk to her. There was obviously a lot of though and effort put into this storyline and if you find the first few episodes boring then you just haven’t gotten to the good part yet

Steins;Gate will always have a special place in my heart....I understand people not liking it as much as I did...Okabe and Kurisu are one of the best couple in anime without question...They support each other perfectly and what makes the series so good is mostly because of them

I really liked Steins Gate. I enjoyed the first 10 episodes and I'm sure many other people did too, but I think we can all agree that it was a bit slow and some people might have dropped it because of that.

exactly, I don't think there is such a thing as a clear cut best anime. Otherwise, you would have a show with a 10/10 average rating on MAL. It is subjective, everyone might view a certain anime in higher or lower esteem based on their set of bias, preferences, worldviews, etc.

Those coincidences were happening to me since I first watched the show. I thought i'm the only one. Since I watched Steins Gate coincidences for everything is happening to me all the time in the internet. I literally just randomly watched the Sonic movie yesterday and I started seeing stuff about Sonic on my social media. And that movie - I watched it from someone else's laptop and account, so it can't be just google recommending it to me as always

I love the 1st 10 episodes. I feel like anyone who likes 'slice of life' type anime will love it. Okabe is one of the funniest protagonists I've ever seen in anime, and I loved the constant arguing between him and kurisu. From episode 12 it's a masterpiece though

I started watching steins;gate a couple years ago and watched maybe 2 or 3 episodes before I sort of tuned out and dropped it. Not because it was bad, it just didn't grab me by the nuts right away... But recently I thought I would give it another go because it's supposed to be very good. And I'm really glad I did. What an incredible ride! I haven't watched a whole lot of anime in general, but from my limited palette I can easily say this is some of the best i've seen, maybe even the best peice of storytelling i've seen in general. The first half of the series while at first viewing might seem like being intentionally slow is what really gives such an amazing effect when the plot starts stepping on the gas and the tone dramatically shifts. Like any rollercoster ride theres a slow climb at the start for a thrilling payoff. It's also so important when it comes to the characters. If it didn't spend the time getting to know all the characters in the first half, theres no reason to care about what happens to them in the second half. The only downside is that it's a very hard sell to tell someone that "trust me bro, it gets really good after 12 episodes, or 20-ish hours of visual novel".

This is very underrated anime. None of my friends know about this anime. 😑

"It is not the best, but it was masterpiece" best is something that watcher decides. Edit: Many people are trying to compare death note, code gaess, naruto etc with steins gate. I mean how can you compare a slice of life and sci fi with those shounen and dark theme show. It is just like comparing math with history books.

I didn't find the first half slow. I really enjoy the cozy vibes of the group just doing fun experiments together. I think it's something the last half was missing for me, even though I love the whole show.

Am I the only one who enjoys the first 10 eps of Steins Gate so much? The thrill and goosebumps that every episodes gave me is crazy. I literally looked forward for Steins Gate to be the best anime I have ever watched just after a few eps.

What defines the best of anything is completely down to personal taste, but even as somebody who doesn't carry a personal ladder of greatness for the things I enjoy, I can respect Stein's Gate as a work of art for no reason other than the story being solid AF. I don't think there's a single element that isn't there for a reason, right down to the the metal Upa Mayuri gets at the start. That said, I can sympathise that it can be difficult to get into. The VN has huge amounts of exposition to set you into the world that the anime glosses over for good reason, and Okarin as a character is very unique and eccentric and takes a while to understand. But once it gets going and the story begins to reverse on itself, giving new meaning to everything that happened, by God, it becomes a schooling class on how to write a plot.

there are many things you could criticize steins; gate for, like the badly timed comedy at times or the insensitive disrespect towards Rukako, or the weak villains or the plot holes, but not really the first 10 episodes - those did what they were intended to do

I actually loved Steins gate. The science adventure was a thrill. And the first 10 episode weren't too bad at all, built up and gave exposition to some great characters.

duffbeerdude I am not a anime nerd or something but from what I know, most of the animes don’t this build to avoid confusion in the viewers. Thus this is one of reasons why Stein’s Gate is unique. To me Stein’s Gate is one of the animes who is worthy to be categorized with Monster and Durara.

What's the plot?" 10 eps: literally gripping anything I held on because I was too absorbed One of the best. Hands down. It's a masterpiece. Even steins;gate 0 didn't disappoint. Mad respect

I wouldn't say it's my favorite anime, but I would definitely put it in my top 10 (or even top 5). The beginning was pretty slow, I have to agree. But after that, it's a major masterpiece. I had heard about the anime in the past. I didn't know what it was about, but I usually avoided anime that got a lot of hype (there are a couple exceptions to that). But a youtuber was recommending Steins;Gate, and I thought "Fine, I'll check it out." And I put it on my list of anime to watch. After watching the anime that I had on my list before it, I sat through the entirety of the show. I'm just sad that I missed the hype of this show. It's amazing!

1:36 LMAOO man said "El Psy Congroo" and I didn't even understand it the first 10 times I watched this video because of the fake Japanese accent

The first time I watched Steins' gate, I didn't know it was a time travel anime. After I knew that I was totally into the anime and it was worth it.
