Had a freaky thing happen to me today. I was sitting on a beach on the east coast of England, and me and my family spotted some big clouds out to sea and what looked like rain coming from them. We initially thought they were travelling a different way and not towards us, but then I started noticing the cloud getting bigger, as if it was getting closer, which it turned out it was. We also noticed some thunder and lightning coming from the clouds. Now instead of being smart and leaving before the rain hits, we decided to stay and watch the storm roll in. As it got closer, the smell of the sea got much more powerful. Suddenly, A huge wind picked up heading directly inshore, and as it went it picked up loads of sand from the beach and started pelting it against everyone on the beach to the point where it actually hurt. Needless to say we and most over occupants of the beach got out of there in a hurry.

Except the last thing you want to do during an earthquake is run outside. Falling trees/branches are much more dangerous than falling picture-frames. Instead of putting his family in danger, he should've hid under a sturdy desk or table, away from glass. If that isn't an option, stand near an interior wall without hanging debris.
