Watertight Diamond Drilling with a Pentruder MD1 HF high frequency Twin Column Drill Rig
At a recent water plant refurbishment project, a precision diamond coring operation was successfully employed to form a watertight fit for new 900 mm diameter pipework connecting to an existing concrete water tank. As the clean water tank was in constant use, this had to be done as quickly and efficiently as possible. The clean water tank had concrete walls 520 mm thick, the core drilling, therefore, had to be carried out very carefully and within the already restricted time scale.
The job was carried out using a special design of the Pentruder MD1 HF, a high frequency drill rig, a twin column model with a 4 speed MG41 gear box and 380V, 3-phase 22 kW motor.
