They were imitating a photograph or painting which is why no one is moving except Kevin. Since Scott is a hand-singer, you can see him white knuckling the chair he’s holding on to!

One of my favorites. The interlude in the middle where it goes from solo to duet to trio to quartet building to the final crescendo with Kirstie is genius. Gives me chills every time.

Notice that Kevin was keeping the sound effects and beats going while simultaneously playing different rhythms on the cello. It's like playing two instruments and two songs at the same time. I have no idea how the man can split his brain power like that.

I imagine its a similar conditioning that great pianists go through to coordinate their left and right hands. He is insanely talented and dedicated.

Kevin on the cello is incredible and Avi's voice sounding like a bass being played at the beginning is insane too. Such power in the vocals.

There is definitely something about this group that really drives emotions in people like no other group I have every heard. They have either figured out how to emotionally manipulate their audience purposefully and become experts at it or they are just not human. They are amazing.

I think both. They have all done some acting so I think they feel the song so much, they can convey that in the song

They are the masters at using silence as a note! 💖

This is one of my favorite covers they do. If you want simply sublime, their original Run to You will kill you with all the frozen trout in the world. True story.

You may also like their cover of ‘dancing on my own’. They did it after Avi left but before Matt joined. Kevin plays his Cello for all the bass parts. They come to a verse that is all cello, and you realize the sound is Avi’s absence.

"The vampire that glistens in the sun" is so spot on. 😂😂😂

The look of this was supposed to be like an old painting, so the members were instructed to move as little as possible. Scott loves to sing with his hands, so he was supposedly holding on to the back of the chairs in front of him with all of his might in order to keep from moving his hands!

This has been my favorite song of theirs since the day I discovered it years ago. The sheer beauty and depth of their harmonies makes my heart dance. I like to call it aural ambrosia.

My all time favourite PTX duet - Avi singing double bass lines with Beyoncé (Kevin’s cello). It’s genuine perfection.

Kirstin's vocal in this is BEAUTIFUL!!! This song is a masterpiece that I've probably listened to a hundred times and still get goosebumps when I hear it! I 've done been smacked in the head by that trout a few times! lol

To me, the look of this video is how stunned you feel when you have suffered the loss of someone, who willing walked out of your heart! You can see the pain in their faces, hear it in their voices as it tears the pain form your heart!

Kevin the one man percussion band playing cello and beat boxing the drums at the same time...cello-boxing the talent of this man.

Trust me when I tell you that us Pentaholics know how the music hits you b/c it hits us the same way. I don't think I've ever heard any other singer/band be able to illicit so much feeling and emotion in every song they cover; they are definitely blessed with their talent! And totally agree that Scott's voice is beyond phenomenal! Normally when you see vids of him he's always moving his hands and his body b/c he's feeling the emotion and when I saw this vid, I couldn't believe he actually just stood there but I understand it would've taken away from the 'setting' of the song. However, when I did a meet and greet, I did ask him if they told him to hold on to the chair and he was like, "no, I don't think so"! lol

Whenever Kevin plays the cello in a PTX track, it's always to contribute an additional voice to the mix and never simply as a background instrumental accompaniment.

I respect your reaction to this song so much. It is that powerful. Also the frozen trout comment is the best!

I’ve been waiting for you to finally react to this one! I think this might be my very favorite PTX song. I could literally lie on the floor and let this song wash over me. Also, I agree with you about Scott. I adore each member of this group, but Scott’s voice is my favorite. It’s smooth yet textured, versatile yet distinct. And his range is insane. 🎵💙

I heard this song for the first time about 6 weeks ago and loved it. I played it over and over again. I am so glad you are reacting to it. Yes, I do feel like I am singing the song and like I can't breathe. The best feeling.

Another comment.....I found reaction videos by watching a video by a guy who was researching the best Baritones in the world. He found Scott, absolutely one of the best Baritone in the World!

Found you by random because you did a PTX reaction ("Love Again) and instantly subscribed. You're fire, man, and I appreciate your reactions because you're so knowledgeable. It's one thing to have a "fan reaction" - which is enjoyable, of course - but it's an entirely different animal when you're able to assess a video not only for the group and the music, but for the arrangement, the lighting, the editing, the layering... As a trained musician of 40+ years, I automatically see and hear multiple things when I watch a video for the first time (it's automatic. There are times I wish I could turn it off.), and it's cool to see the reaction of someone else who pays attention to all the layers of something that, on the outside, seems like such a simple thing. :)

Yes! It’s a beautiful song and another amazing cover. I really like their choice of soloist for each part, it perfection, and yes, finesse. I feel like they are always at the service of the song. Always love your PTX reactions! You're fully capable of articulating the intense emotions they evoke with their music. I speculate that the frozen trout comment here is simply your next-level reference to being slapped with a wet fish/trout, which would be a 'striking' escalation, indeed! Looking forward to catching up on more of your excellent reactions. :-)

I forgot, as I usually do, their cover of shallow is shot in the same way. Avi also has something called overtone which means he can sing two notes at 1 time. I have no idea how this is done or when he's doing it, I just know that he can do it.

This was the very 1st Pentatonix video I saw many years ago. I've been a Pentaholic ever since. Their covers are always so much better than the originals. And their original music is phenomenal. Their 2nd album of all original songs is coming out in a couple weeks.

His name is Edward Cullen. I don't know if you noticed but Kevin is also beatboxing while playing the cello. He calls it cello boxing and it is now being taught. They found Kevin after a video of him playing the cello and beatboxing went viral. Check out Kevin's channel Titled KO And his cover of Marion hills, I think that's the right name, down. Kevin also plays the piano and I think The saxophone. I know it's 1 other instrument. He also speaks fluent mandarin. Before he join Pentatonix he graduated from Yale Premed. The other group to check out is super fruit. That is Mitch and Scott.1 of the most powerful songs I have ever heard is there cover of Katy perry's rise. It has Brian Justin crum, check him out on America's got talent doing creep, Mario Jose and Miranda Lambert. They're all friends of super fruit and members of the LGBTQ community. They Recorded the song in response to the shootings at the pulse night club in Florida. For something light and fun do hip hop goes to Broadway part 1 and part 2. Do them separately so you can see the bloopers. Also guy.EXE. On super fruits channel there are many On super fruits channel there are many videos of Scott and Mitch just having Fun and being silly for 10-15 minutes. It's nice to get an insight Into their personalities. My favorite is when they play the game when 1 person fills his mouth with water and the other 1 tries to get them to laugh and spit it out.

Of all the images that leap to mind when Pentatonix sings..."frozen trout" is NOT one.
