I think you would enjoy their first performance together on The Singoff to see how they just clicked in the beginning. Called E.T.

It's always the most refreshing to see a beat boxers perspective on PTX videos, as vocal coach reactions are as tossing a nickel into the sea and you'll find one. Very entertaining.

For your personal listen, look up this song by PTX live at a radio station. Now that is crazy I love your reactions! At the radio station can more easily see him do the whispers and the beat.

Kevin's beatboxing is what first drew me in as a fan of Pentatonix. I still find it amazing the kinds of sounds people can produce. Early sound effects performers (i.e. Wes Harrison) intrigue me. Appreciate your insight into how some of these sounds are created. No - not everyone is able to produce all the same sounds because sounds will differ by shape, structure, tautness, etc. and we are all unique - like you! ❤

The bass on this track is Avi doing "overtone singing" which is 2 notes at once. There is a clearer video if you search Avi and the lion sleeps tonight.

I know Kevin has commented that he has stopped doing the throat bass due to how hard it is on his vocal chords. Its a shame its so rough on them as its such a cool effect

Avi has a four-year music performance degree, and I think he's doing a controlled vibrato to create that beat in a sustained note. And he can do Tuvan throat singing and other "special" vocal techniques.

While people think Kevin is doing everything in the opening, that's Avi doing the bass line while Kevin is doing the beatboxing. They didn't show him doing it because they were waiting for his "Listen to me". Live performances show this clearly.

Avi was an opera/classical voice major at Mount San Antonio College in California - a college known for its award-winning vocal groups. Avi belonged to 3 - their chamber choir, a more mainstream group called Singcopation (which won the Monterey Jazz Festival his junior year), and the mostly tongue-in-cheek group Fermata Nowhere. In 2009, Fermata Nowhere won the ICCA competition - the height of the a cappella world - becoming the first community college act to win. And in the finals, Avi won the award for "Best Rhythm Section", the first vocal bass to win that accolade, which previous to him had been called "Best Vocal Percussionist". And just before he was recruited into Pentatonix for The Sing Off, Avi had been offered a position as basso profundo by the Los Angeles Opera. The man has some skills!

I think it's because most of his experience lies in beatbox, and then he also has tried to learn some bass techniques for his beatboxing. So he may not have anything informational to say about the other three. If you're looking for vocal analysis, this isnt really the place, though I do have some recommendations: Sir Hairless is currently working through PTX and Voiceplay covers, he does composition and notation commentary; The Charismatic Voice talks about vocal techniques and breath control (among other things) in relation to her experience in opera, and has extensive playlists in a capella cover reactions; Peter Barber does similar work to TCV but from a bass perspective, and also has some commentary on production. They are also (TCV and Peter Barber) affiliated with other reaction channels that work more from musical theater and choral perspectives (Jennifer Glazhofer and Mortius come to mind). Klown's here for the beatboxing, and a nice addition to the reaction/analysis movement, but not a full picture dude

You have a million other channels with "vocal coaches" that dote over the other members and never Kevin. He deserves his shine on at least "beat boxing" specialist channel. I find most people that are "fans" only want to hear Mitch get praised anyway.
