Hello Warren, I am an old subscriber and I can say you have one of the best channel to learn piano Your piano technic, your ability to sing, your smile, your pedagogy, etc. never decreased! Thanks for what youhave done until now I just have a question, at 5:10 you said you can apply the penta scale over the 2nd, 4th, and 6th but I do not understand why? This is just an example for this run ou a general rule? Because I always thought penta scale could be played over any note, any chord of Major scale. Could you please explain to me this topic?

Thank you for your support all these years :) While the pentatonic scale is flexible, you can’t use the same pentatonic scale for every chord, you will eventually run in dissonance. For example, in the key of C, you can’t using C pentatonic over a G chord, as the C will clash with the B. However you can play a G pentatonic over a G chord. So in the video the demonstration is to show you that a single pentatonic scale can be playing over 3 chords of that key comfortably. And for other chords in the key you may need to switch to another pentatonic scale to avoid dissonance.

Thanks for watching. Unfortunately I’m a Gospel guy through and through, I don’t even listen pop songs. Not that I have anything against pop songs, I just don’t find them musically appealing. They very monotonous.

This is great! But how do you figure how the hand positions for that perfect 4th scale in other keys with black notes, like G# ?

You have to change the fingering based on the keys and the shape. The bast way to choose fingers is to go with what feel’s natural and comfortable. So try different fingering till you find the ones that work for that particular key.
