an update on my problem with a blank screen, First thank you for your video and knowledge , it helped me and others, my screen was blank, power to the unit, power to the firemans switch, i bought a motherboard and a membrane , screen was still blank, firemans switch was good, my problem was the ignition control module, for me it is cheaper to thow parts then hire an expert , sometimes you win , having a pool is like having an new exotic european gas fires 24 cylinder turbo solar atom powered car , something always going wrong

I might be having the same problem. Where is the ignition switch located? I got a new circuit board and membrane but now nothing is turning on. Power is coming to the unit.

@Superdada it is in the same compartment as the fireman's switch, search the net for the part, this will help you locate it. mine was the mother board burnt very apparent "ignition control module "easy swap out,

@@_1ben found the part, thank you. But it is expensive. Were you able to diagnose that was the issue before buying it? Or was it like a trial and error? (I’m also throwing parts at it and at some point I’m tempted to just get a new heater)

@Superdada my heater was 4 years old, numerous problems, but,,,, this video is great but for me it missed a couple of steps,,, check power past the fireman's switch or follow the power to the module, verify power going to and power leaving with the asking for demand or with the heater on, another issue is if there is a problem with no fan module or the fan doesn't come the heater will not work, my advice pull the electric control module and examine the board for burn, that might be all you need for your diagnosis, also verify the fireman's switch often, once I saw the burn I then bought the part

What happens if the board does not engage?

You’re amazing man. I got it to short after a few attempts and when I heard the click on I literally feel like I won 1 million bucks. Because I didn’t wanna have to spend money right now on a new control board which is like $400-$500. I can do this on the few times a year that we need to use the heater.

Just tried this on my pentair max e therm, and it kicked on after having a blank board. Thanks for posting helped with the troubleshooting.

Pentair Mastertemp 250 heater would not turn on. I replaced broken Fireman's fuse and heater still did not come on. I followed the video and shorted circuit and it came on. A little panic about how to turn it off, but I reconnected memory pad and select "off" and it went off. So that button was still working where I did not have to short other pins. Thanks.

What if the system runs off of an application on the cell phone and it turns on intermittently. Last time when it wasn't working i went directly to the heater and there was no power at the heater. Next day heater was working fine.

Hi, I have a question I had the same problem on my heater. I shorted pin 5and 6 and the heater turned on. I waiting for a new membrane in the mail. What pins do you short to turn the heater back off. Till I can get a new member.? Thank you

Scribe Line 5,6? You mean 1,2 to turn on. 1/4 to turn off.

Good night I have a pentier mástertemp 250 heater and this one does not start the engine it only tries to start from the card but it blinks over and over again but it does not turn on the heater

I might have that issue. Theres not LED lights turning on when I push on spa pool. But theres power in the outlet and all. Gas turns on. Etc. Just no LED lights

I have the same heater. The issue with mine is that the display board won’t turn on nor the fan nor the motor in. I’ve installed a new display board and a new transformer in the heater and still it doesn’t turn on. What do? Please help! I have an easy touch system. I’m getting power to the heater I’m getting 24 V at the display board on the heater. The relays in the EasyTouch work.

I know it's older post but heater will not start on if High limit sensor is open or show resistance over few ohms, it should be close to zero ohms(1-2 is OK)

Hi, I have the same problem except that I see the PS LED at the back of the panel. The heater would at least try to start. It will try to fire up to call for heat and it will be OK for few seconds and then the PS LED would light up. I replaced the Pressure Switch about a month ago and it worked for the 3 times I used the heater and now, it won't even try to startup. No sound whatsoever. The Service System lights up right away together with the PS LED.

Make sure you have enough flow. Clean your skimmers and filters

I having the same problem with my pentair today. I turned the breaker on and the display showed 128 and then R something then it just shuts off. I took the whole thing apart because I had to replace the combustion chamber. I put everything back together and now it's doing this. Do you think I might have hook up the wires wrong on the circuit board?

@kimberly, if both the spa light and pool light are on the board you could have two issues. A short in the membrane pad or a short in the board.

Hi, my master temp 400 won't turn on at all. No lights in front and back. How do I exactly short? Do I make the first two basically touch it other? Also, canbyou tell me how to check, if there's power or electricity flowing on the system.

Just tried your fix hoping it would save me time and frustration... Heres my question..... Got a Master temp 400, it is 2 yrs old...working great til all of a sudden my digital display went dark..NOTHING THERE AT ALL. you called it the Membrane, where you power it up and down/temps ect. So after watching all the youtube fixes I checked and found that power is coming to the unit (heater). The transformer is putting out power to the board and the fuse in the main heater panel is good. I bought a new Membrane and hooked it up like you did, nothing so im thinking it is the board?? Saw this youtube clip where you go to the board and touch the pins on the top left near the yellow button (only button on the board itself) and it should trip the unit, it didnt (my water for the spa was on and the heat was set to 101% NOTHING...Im thinking board but im a retired cop with no elec skills..(that may have just hurt me lol) plz help

@@_1ben Spent few hundred on parts I didnt need it was this.. Rat may have eaten the wires to the Temperature Sensor Thermistor. Its the part that goes into the PVC. $30-40 bucks, Amazon above is what I needed not sure what you have... Hope that helps...

@You can't be luke warm KJV thank you for the update, my led screen is blank, the fireman's switch fuse is good, the control board is my first part as well as the membrane, for right now I am trying to get as much knowledge and eliminate the options

I can’t even do this trick bc the heater keeps blowing the firmans switch fuse …… 🙄……I can’t even get power to those pins bc it’s blowing the fuse, and the transformer is putting out 26v at the line side of the firmans switch, therefore the board must have a short bc it STILL blows the fuse with the membrane disconnected

I have the Mastertemp 250, and I am currently having the exact same issue you are describing. Did you ever get your heater fixed, or find out what is blowing the fuse??

Hold up or down temp button for few sec, it will display C or F; pick what you want.
