I think the situation is that he doesn't know and is loathe to admit it, hence the dismissal. As a scientist he should be asking questions, not making conclusions based on lack of evidence. A scientist "expert" should have something positive to say, like where to look for more evidence, evaluation of present evidence and perhaps a suggestion of the sort of evidence needed.

I believe people who were at the scene of the UFO sightings, not some bureaucrat who never stepped foot outside his office except to campaign. An F-18 fighter pilot with 3,500 flight hours and 18 years in the Navy does not mis-identify a highly advanced craft for one made by current technology. Not only that, prior to the pilots' encounter with the UFO, the aircraft carrier fleet off San Diego had tracked that UFO on radar for 2 weeks. Again, that proves the pilots did not see a mirage but a real solid object. Finally, when Pilot Cdr David Frevor turned his fighter to approach the UFO and got to 1/2 mile from it, it zoomed away at tremendous speed. This proves that the object responded to his advances hence we can conclude that it was under intelligent control. So, if no earthly technology could produce a craft of such outrageously high performance, the conclusion must be that it was not of this earth.

The way he so easily dismissed the video right in front of his face causes me to believe this guy is a shill.

While serving overseas in the early seventies I was woken up at about 2:00 a.m. and taken to a building, where we were sworn to secrecy then taken out to a site, we were never able to see what was being picked up by a Crane but we were told to look away and make sure nobody came up on the ridge that was blocking the object that was being recovered. It makes you think doesn't it. When we got back to our base we were told again remember you were here in the barracks all night long. There was also British German and French troops in the area.

This is one of those weird reverse interviews where the host is the one pushing for answers on UFO's and the guest is the skeptic. At the least the host is doing his job.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that PBS editorial board decided to come down on the side of the debunkers. First of all, 22 million was the total cost of the program for 5 years, not each year. This guy couldn't even do enough research to get that right. Any reason why an astronomer's opinion would matter regarding the infrared images from a F-18 is beyond irrelevant. ABC went to the effort of interviewing one of the 2 pilots. That's news worth watching. If PBS is really that scared that it will loose public funding, then just don't cover the story at all. In any case, this was just the first in a list of "dog and pony show" reveals. Are you going to call in astronomers for all the rest? The real question is why, after 70 years of debunking, has the Dept. of Defense decided to come out of the closet now?

What we now know is that there are objects traveling in our atmosphere up to 24,0000 miles/hour without burning up, without creating sonic booms. This would seem to necessitate there is some kind of effect that protects them, like a force shield. They can accelerate in ways that would turn any occupants into jello, which means they have a way to cancel inertia. They can be detected on radar but not always be seen by the eye, which means they can become invisible. Plus they do this without any visible means of propulsion, without any airfoils, without noise. And all these commenters can say is that the studies were unproductive. Is there some kind of willful ignorance involved here?

That was the wrong video. So many news sources have gotten this wrong. That was not the video from San Diego in 2004, that was off the East Coast in 2015 I believe.

I've been witnessing these things for years but I've been in law enforcement first and then as a truck driver so I spent a lot of time at night and at night it's so easy to see these things but I want to talk about when I saw in salt lake City in the middle of the day I pulled up to a warehouse to make a delivery delivery took two and a half hours I stood in the front of my tractor trailer and looked up at the sky when I first pulled up and I saw what looked like the classic UFO disc but with something underneath it. I thought look like a metal box with tubing or something coming out the sides just saying was so high up the clouds was going under it and the jetliners that was about the size other mosquito because of the height we're flying under this thing this thing would have been able to hold 20 of those jetliners that was flying under it this thing must have been at the very beginnings of the atmosphere it wasn't moving it stayed exactly the same spot for 2 hours but it seemed to sparkle on one side or the other like perhaps it was gently turning but it was turning so slowly you couldn't tell two and a half hours later I went to the truck stop I pull up to get fuel I got out and looked in the same area and there it was it had moved an inch I grabbed another truck driver should look at that what is that a black lady was walking by a driver I showed her she looked at bat it and you scream would you have to show me that 4 and started running the driver that I showed it I said is that the space station or whatever they call it and he said no he said there's no way you could see that in daylight he said that thing is huge and it had to be to see it at that high altitude it would have to be as big as a city after I got fuel I want high that took about a half an hour I looked at it one more time it was still there so now we're talkin about a good 3 hours to three and a half hours it hadn't moved an inch I had to make a pick up so I went to make the pickup by that time it was dark I looked up in the same area and I could not see anything there there's no light no sparkling nothing I checked with the military and with NASA they said they have nothing that fits that description

I would rather believe in what the pilots reported seeing....

The DOD only released 3 video clips (Called Gimble, GO FAST, FRITZ) - 1 from the USS Princeton & 2 from the USS NIMITZ. They filmed these "Tic Tacs" for over 3 weeks every day. Can you imagine what they have? Also they have reports from hundreds of bases all over the globe filming these. Tom Delong the guy who lead this entire $22million dollar investigation for DOD called AATIP said on Glenn Becks show they have proof it's not from this planet and they have all sorts of samples and material of them. Makes you stop and listen FOR SURE.

The host should have nailed this guy: Either tell me, right now, EXACTLY what the jets were chasing, or else specifically state, right now, that the only possibilities are a craft from another planet, from the future, or from a different dimension. Idiotic, arrogant assholes like that should not be forever allowed to deflect, BS and obfuscate. Also, as is mentioned below, some speculation would have been nice as to why the U.S. military has gone from denying the existence of UFO's, spreading counter-stories and lies, destroying and hiding evidence, and ridiculing and intimidating eye witnesses, to openly releasing actual videos and making a variety of military eye witnesses available for multiple uncensored national interviews.

Imagine being woken up by a cymbal tone in your inner ear and when you open your eyes , you see this being standing in your bathroom doorway- The first thing my mind said was : Your eyes are playing tricks on you, you arent really seeing this being. Then she moves slightly forward and then I know that shes real and she picks up my fear at that moment she backs further into the bathroom and out comes this huge sphere transparent with static on both sides of it. It floats right up to the side of my bed and then it shapeshifts into a smaller object and flies slowly through my ceiling I know the logical mind wants to explain it away- Because its so far from anything we thought possible. When this craft disappeared into the ceiling, i was frozen in my bed, eyes wide open for about 5min then I got up and went to my desk and immediately typed up what i just witnessed in my bedroom- it was 1:41 am june 16th 2017-

I am a big skeptic before I think it's anything more than misidentify I want to see the video footage from beginning to end not just some little snippet while it's Airborne in one area I want to see when it was above the water and and how it shot up in the air

If they do exist and are in fact visiting us they would be intelligent enough to not make contact with us because for one reason we are way too dangerous and two any technology that they would consider sharing with us would be potentially misused for power and greed Just my guess. But to know that they exist would be absolutely amazing

Wrong! It was not $22 million per year. As both Politico and the Washington Post point out, TOTAL program spending over the 5 years the program ran was between $20-$22 million. It was money very well spent.
