Boy, i love cruiser vs cruiser battles at mid tier so much! For me one of the most exciting scenarios in this game. You really get those battle of Savo Island wibes.

The main issue of T5 CB is there is a lot of premium ships in that tier which are quite OP and which are not anymore available.

I've always said that Pensacola is basically a T6 Stalin. Tanky when angled, gets dev-struck when broadside, improved AP...

I got my Pensacola right before the heavy/light cruiser line split. And man, was she painful back in those days. I've barely touched her since those days...

Several months ago I was checking out secondary CA accuracy and noticed how great Pensacola's is, but the range is so short and so few, I knew it would never be more than a meme. Yet, I saw Brest and Marseille had the next best after Napoli, but playing them in PT with the new skill, dmg wasn't great because they are so small they don't pen. I didn't get fires, but didn't find it worth it. The second best after Napoli in dmg was Schroder.

Really wish they gave manual secondaries skill for cruisers like in the old days :)

I wouldn’t say Pepsi Cola is being a OP ship or out right broken, it made out of Citadels which any BBs or even some CAs breathes on them. It will self combust faster than HMS Hood.

I had a lot of fun with the pensacola. It's guns just have so much punch and are pretty accurate. I find if I slow roll as a support/artillery cruiser, I'm farming citadels all day long. I think I'm gonna buy it again lol.

Interesting, I do remember a lot of close knife fights in the Pensacola when I ran her but I doubt meta matches that now. I wonder if it would be a good specific ranked/brawling build? I remember getting kills with Pensacola secondary's against close range low health DD's and always thinking it was weird, but that accuracy explains it. I am actually working through the French fast cruiser line and going to try a secondary build for them as I am having a rough time and apparently at high tiers they get a crazy range. Might be nice to get extra damage in while she reloads.

Massive citadel, -ish maneuvrability and quite atrocious turret traverse. Funnily enough the description a Yamato too, as bad as a brawler.

The range and accuracy are nice but the hitting damage is bad and the firestarting isn't good either.

DAMMIT @PotatoQuality giving away my secret... kidding of course. I've been telling any who laugh at me taking out the Pennacola so much, they need to beware of this ship. Great video, fun times!!

The scroder is a beast with this new skill. I really want to try it on the Salem. Ranked battles tend to get close quarters and I've notice the secondary's will get in the action. You should also try an asw build. Somebody has got to kill those subs!

Question - If the commander skills have not benefited the US cruiser line, can you provide an optimized commander build for USN Cruisers?

I've been having a blast with the Schroder since this update. I made over 500k in a bot match with grey boosters lol.

Those two BBs were wondering what the actual F was taking place. I would've been calling you a cheater somehow lol.

I’ve had some monster games in Pensacola. All of them by accident lol.

Marseille actually performs incredibly well with secondaries, especially if you go with a hybrid build. Max out her secondary's range but keep focus on high speed main guns over high speed secondaries, you can easily end with 180k damage battles from the fires and damage those secondaries do

I used to love this ship at tier 7 could carry tier 9 games, its just so agile and hits pretty hard, but turret speed now is just painful...

Pensacola has always been one of those lick your lips DEV STRUCK! However it always has been the traditional hide and seek and decent 1 on 1 brawler with cruisers but seeing you take on two BB's makes me rethink this ship even on console. Need to look at different combinations with console commanders to possibly duplicate. :D

I miss tier 7 Pepsi but tier 6 is nice. Once my Koenigsberg secondaries sunk 2 ships in a row. She's 3 88s!

im not sure me and you have been playing the game with the same pensacola as eachother because through my 7 ish years of playing this game, i have never ever thought of the pensacola as ANYTHING other than a floating citadel with terrible accuracy

I agree. This is a weak video to get some views. He was playing against nincompoops. He plays against 1 competent player and he dies in the first 5 min.

WG shoulda gave the Outnumbered commander skill a secondary gun dispersion buff for every enemy ship that enters your main gun range like 8% buff to secondary dispersion for every enemy ship in ur main gun range.

Before cheatland changed the tier , Pepsicola at those days was like paper armor and super exposed citadel ,guns punch hard anyway

Think one of my first secondary kills in the game was on a Pensacola (when it was still tier 7 back in the day). DD came charging around the corner of an island and I managed to detonate him at full health. Wouldn't blame them for rage quitting after that.

Where did that chart come from? Where can we find it?

Maybe test the Roon for secondaries as it has quite a lot of secondary guns and range is 10.5 km, but not as high caliber as the Napoli.

Pq can you try colorado secondary its a great fire starter or damage dealer if you spec into it and a great dd/cruiser repelant

Pretty sure this isn't news. "Brawlacola" was a thing when she was tier 7. It was a stupid, hilarious, and suicidal thing, but it was a thing.

For some reason CTRL and left mouse doesn't activate priority target with secondaries. There appears an A with a circle around above the chosen ship, but nothing happens. Any thoughts ?

It means your captain does not have the priority target skill. It's not a default mechanic, it's a 4 point skill your captain has to have, and if I'm not mistaken, it's a BB captain specific skill, so cruisers can't take it. Without the skill, I believe that all you're doing is telling the game your intended target so that it can adjust main battery dispersion towards it.

@@corbinpearce7686 Found it, it was some mod in the official mod station that was disabled there. Deleted it and it works again.

I guess those bb players were new to the game. Otherwise they would just aim at your superstructure when they can´t overmatch you. But yes that 25 mm Armor is nice. Players asked for faster turret traverse because they would outturn their turrets if they did hard turns in order to avoid bb shells. But WG gave the pepsi better armor instead. So now you can even bounce some bb shells

No this is not why all battleships should have some overmatch. This is why battleships should have a cruiser screening for them. This is a team game. You cant just make every ship fight well against every other ship.

I started playing the game again in April after quitting for about 4 years. I noticed that Pepsi was quite different. It used to citadel easy, now it's nearly impossible. It also seems just ridiculously tanky overall. Because of this I thought I'd give it a go, but the turret traverse was just too annoying. Then again there are many annoyances in this game, the genius of angling, the imbalance of carriers & now of subs. I probably won't be back for much longer.

Try it in Asymmetric battles.

yeah the pepsi has come a long way. She was once the weakest Tier 7 Cruiser. Always overshadowed by the Myoko. Then they downtiered her together with New Oreans and Baltimore and later she even got 25 mm armor

As a console player, the idea of using secondaries on a cruiser or a cruiser shooting anything other that HE is completely foreign to me

When i first went up this line, I disliked the Pensacola. I really liked the New Orleans tho...

It got destroyed because it used to be a T7 ship.

That was one big meme, 8 secondaries, only 8 and you are lucky if you have 4 shooting at the same time, yeah no even close to being worth it, the captain skills.

I feel so helpless when playing battleships nowadays. With a huge range, cruisers just sit far, angled, and ready to kite. BB's just a free farm. I can't even hit them with BB's dispersion, even if I do they are angled, so no damage.

So one thing I learned several years ago when I first went up the American BB line and got to Colorado is that most BBs are best played as ambush predators. Staying dark and holding your shots will usually get you better results than dpm. There are exceptions like Republique or Yamato where they have so much penetration that angling doesn’t really matter or Slava railguns that are so fast they’re hard to juke. I have a 62% WR in lolarado by just chillin, waiting on someone to commit to a turn and letting them have it. If you can punch out a couple T9 cruisers in a T7 BB, that’s a massive game.

For the longest time I've seen people say the Napoli has the most accurate secondaries in the game but that's never been true on paper so why are people saying it? Granted, it is one of the best but it isn't THE best on paper.

I gave up on Pensacola a long time ago (not long after the US cruiser line split). Her turret rotation speed is like molasses in January and that 17 second reload I remember is ridiculous. Her guns can slap, but 17 secs? How did you get it down to 13 secs? I don't see anything in your build that will permit that. You showed us your commander build, but not your ship module build. Nothing in your commander build sped up the main battery reload. And we all know about Pensacola's armor.
