We lost a great one today and it reminded me about this great conversation I had back in 2012 with the late, great Penny Marshall. What was your favorite Penny role? Make sure to comment below.

Laverne....♥️♥️
Penny Marshall is one of my favorite filmmakers. I was born in 84 so I didn’t grow up with “Laverne and Shirley” but I knew her as a director. I wish I had the chance to meet her but I have her films and her books to cherish. RIP Penny, your work brought joy to all our lives.
RIP Miss Marshall. She was a true talent on many levels.
Laverne Difazio was my favorite Penny Marshall role. What a talent! #RIP Beautiful Lady
I just finished reading her autobiography, 'My Mother Was Nuts!" I couldn't put it down. I loved her before and now I love her even more.
I always thought Penny was right up there as far as physical comedy goes with the likes of Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett....PLUS...she ended up showing The Hollywood Suits just how it's done Behind The Camera and all doing this in her big brother's shadow! She was a Treasure to be sure!
Sad to hear that Penny is no longer with us. She was very talented and was such a character! Always loved her work in front of, and behind the camera.
My heart is broken. R.i.P. Penny. I can't believe she has passed away. Thank you for all the brighten and laughter you brought to my life. 💕
Rest In Peace to one of the mid 70's finest female TV icons and one of the Lakers' most devoted fans. You will absolutely be missed Penny!
Dog gone it. Sure wish we'd have had a few more years with Penny, I was waiting for another great movie from her. A Penny or Gary Marshall, Ron Howard or Rob Reiner movie are always great in my opinion. Bless her ol' heart, she gave me many a laugh. Thanks, Penny.
She was great. Awesome i loved this interview! RIP both Larry and Penny!
It's surreal to know that both Penny and Larry are gone.

RIP Penny. Thanks for helping to give my generation great times growing up.
We lost one of the most beautiful gorgeous and brilliant people one of a kind and can’t be replaced our Laverne De Fazio Penny Marshall and she is a very extremely talented lady and loving her and missing her forever R I P Penny Marshall
I love her authenticity! She was herself and a genius in my opinion. RIP Penny Marshall!

Great interview as always. Penny Marshall was so fascinating to listen to. She made things sound so easy, like “ if I could do it, so can you”. Love it.

I thought she liked the Clippers? She will be missed!
Penny's 1 st name Carole was after that great comedian, actress Carole Lombard who died in a plane crash on a War Bond tour (WW 2). My name is Carole (born 1943), & remember at 7, wishing I was named after Carole Lombard also (Carol with an e, Carole). I asked my mother, with shoulders happily high if I was named after her. My shoulders sank as she said, no, I just like that name. Glad to have learned Penny was Carole Penny - she deserved the honor.
I wasn't a big Laverne and Shirley fan but since she started directing I have been a huge Penny Marshall fan. I always got the feeling that neither she nor Carrie Fisher took life (or anything) too seriously and that helped make both of them incredibly special.
Love Penny! She will be missed. RIP
Penny was hilarious!!! She had so much personality and sarcasm...which is missing from Hollywood ingenues today! Tired of seeing the same blond fake smiley chicks on the Red Carpet with zero charisma! Penny was a riot and so relatable!
So down to earth. Love that accent too because it reminds me of my mom. Rest In Peace, Penny.

@@peregrino9154 Penny Marshall one of my favorite people!
I loved her as Myrna Turner, she was in love with Sheldn, they left the O off his birth certificate, her husband at the time Rob Reiner played the part, could you imagine that table, Garry Marshal, Penny, Rob Reiner, and Carl Reiner, invite Mel Brooks over, and it's a party
OMG, she just died yesterday! RIP.

That thick accent, it’s fascinating
Her gang was fantastic, wish they had taped more of their dialogues...
Great interview. Penny was terrific
I love Penny Marshall she was a great actress
You may rest in peace Laverne.

@Hammerschlägen M Please consider revising your comment. Being thought of as Jewish is not an insult and in this context is meant as a compliment. The post says "wonderful person." Penny Marshall and her brother have joshed about passing as Jewish from the Bronx in some interview too. Penny Marshall was married to Rob Reiner who adopted her daughter too, but didn't convert.

This is so true because right up until the end of her life, I always assumed Penny was Jewish. Hard to believe that she was not.
She reminds me of my aunt Betty Parrott..they looked alike and their personalities are identical..in New York City I guess alot of us are similar
big and a league of their own are my fav movies. what a legend
Thank you for reposting this. I grew up enjoying Penny in the 70's. My heroes continue to go. Donna Summer, most of the Bee Gees, Whitney, David Bowie... the list is getting too long.

@Hammerschlägen M Why? Or am I to pretend that your limited awareness counts as wit?
I just love her 😊
Penny was one of those naturally funny, cute people who ever existed. Ex: " I'm not from Brooklyn"" - hilarious to me. Yep, she was a Bronx gal!!!
There are some beautiful pics of her online when she was young. It's hard to believe, how ppl can change so drastically as they age. It shows that just because someone achieves health and beauty and financial success, it doesn't necessarily mean that they're well inside. That emotional ill health invariably shows up in older age. Some say it's just what old age does, but that's not really true, and genetics is way less significant than they say. Our ills are rooted in our emotional health. Diabetes, it's about an inability to get that "sweetness," symbolic of love. She smoked, that's a wicked addiction, but ultimately it's slow suicide... Like most of us, she didn't deal with her pain in a healthy way. But it doesn't go away, and it's powerful. You can only ignore/suppress it for so long, and then it'll destroy you. They're now saying we have the potential to live to at least 150, so she was still young. We need to get over our ignorance and shame about our emotions, and getting "therapy." Most of us need it, and would live longer and happier lives, if we'd at least acknowledge, respect, learn how to express our emotional pain, heal the trauma. You can't really swallow it or laugh it away.
Beautiful penny gone too soon 😔🇨🇦🇨🇦
LAVERNE DIFAZO 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
I hate cigarettes and diabetes. May she rest in peace.
She said he was yelling it when he said “my mother is nuts” so he does it AGAIN when he ends the interview. Lolz
A great talent gone too soon penny😂🇨🇦🇨🇦
