Pennsylvania Railroad E8's on the Norfolk Southern Harrisburg Line

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

May 27 and June 3, 2014: Bennett Levin's famed E8's make a special run on the NS Harrisburg Line on their way to/from the Streamliners event in Spencer, NC.

/ centralpennrailproduct...
May 27, 2014
0:00 - The train is headed west toward Harrisburg past a road crossing and modern signal bridge near Milepost 81. The train will then head south to North Carolina from Harrisburg.
June 3, 2014
0:55 - The train returns north on the Lurgan Branch just below Harrisburg, passing a rural scene near Milepost 13.
1:25 - Now on the Harrisburg Line, the beautifully restored PRR E8's pass yet another rural scene. I missed the sun here by seconds!
2:45 - Stopped at DORF interlocking, the PRR E8's wait on a hotshot intermodal train 21M to head west before crossing over onto the same track to continue east pass another train and track work. Although stopped in a fairly remote area, the train attracted a lot of attention from those passing by.
4:30 - The train is on the move at DORF. I finally got the train in sun, albeit high solar noon (just after 1 o'clock).
5:28 - I raced the train east to the lower Harrisburg Line at MP 47, just beating the train, although the rain was following, nevertheless, I thought it was a good shot to close on, after a long and tiring chase.
I wasn't too pleased with the overall shots, but sometimes you can't help the weather and the clouds when a special train like this runs, so you just have to try to make the most of it. I hope you enjoyed the video!

If someone asked me if there was a locomotive I would want this would be it! So beautiful! The PRR has a very elegant colors that makes it stand out. Very classy but a modern executive feel to it. Even next to the NS it doesn't look like it has aged a bit. I've always have a spot in my heart for the E7's. Love the ditch lights that they added to it like icing on a cake. A touch of modernization to a old legend and a testament of the E7's. I wish I can see it in person.

Set-ups are nice AWAY from grade crossings. The horns get very annoying after awhile and they ALWAYS distort. Nice quality video! Very professional. Set ups down wind of the crossing a ways loose much if not all distortion. I do digital sound recording and the grade crossings off in the distance are much more appealing letting the sounds of the locos dominate when at source of recording. These are just my thots from years of doing this and are in no way meant to demean you wonderful videos.
