PENICHE SURF HEAVEN - 360DAYS OFFSHORE | VON FROTH
Спорт
Nic Von Rupp embarks on an exhilarating surf and island-hopping escapade in Peniche, a geological wonder of the Portuguese coast where there’s always a place blowing offshore. Peniche is one of those places that seem to be conceived by a surfer’s mind. It welcomes all kinds of swells and winds and provides waves and conditions for all levels of surfers, from inexperienced novices to high-skilled pros. But don’t be fooled into thinking Peniche is just about surfing. Joined by his girlfriend, Nic takes a romantic trip around the medieval town of Óbidos, one of Portugal’s must-go places, before jumping on a boat and paying a visit to the breathtaking Berlengas Islands natural reserve, a jewel of Portugal’s West Coast. From towering barrels to exploring hidden coves or walking around old castle walls, this is a journey of history searching, nature immersion and red-hot surfing action.

We are 95% sure we are moving to Porto in Summer. This is so helpful to us and using surfing and wineries, Moorish architecture... A history lesson keeps us wondering what do we want to see or surf next. Your surf level I may never catch, but my love of surfing and the life we lead is quite nice. Thank you for sharing yours with us. ☮💪💥💌
I went to peniche for 3 months many years ago I camped at the site over from super tubes and the water park and I fell in love with the place surfed my brains out and drank super bock and smoked pollen and partying with the locals met some sound as people in bar number one and want to go back for sure ❤️

I want to do another surfing camp. I was considering Peniche. However I can only get time off in June/July. Should I spend my time doing something else and try to come in Autumn when the waves are better? Im a beginner, I’ve done 1 camp so far.
Smart move diversifying and adding some informative travel vlogs. Hope to see more on the channel. Great to learn about spots from another surfer's perspective.
I will be visiting Portugal soon and I would like to stay a few days in Peniche. Do you have any recommendations for hotels that have restaurants/bars within walking distance? We can drive to the surf spots. Appreciate the inside scoop and keep up the good videos.
Man stop !! I want to leave my job now 😂

always time for a vacation
Hey man! I went to peniche some years ago in October while the wsl was running the comp, it was a big and classic week of ST surfing, but all the days grey kinda grey and rainy. I knoe the best season for surfing in Europe is around that time, but can i ask: when did you go in this video? It looks so sunny and chill hahaha man, inwant to go back
You're insane :D I was hoping to find some beginner waves haha. Any ideas where to go as an absolute beginner this winter? It has to be europe though
sitio mágico! minha primeira surfada de sempre foi no baleal. Video épico Nic, abraço.
I'll admit when I see Nathan and a rocky coastline i know im about to spend 15-20 min of anxiety watching😮
Another well made and entertaining video ! Really enjoying the Portuguese series and looking forward to the next one...

@@chuck6646 my rule of thumb is ... more than 3 professional cameras onshore I'm going back home ..it's PROs only lol
I was just there for a week. October 2023. I loved that I could walk from my accommodation to the surf. The water was warm IMO. No need for gloves, boots or hood. There is nothing really to do there except surf so if you drag your family there like I did you may not be too popular. Tons of break choices. Nothing but good vibes on the water and the heavy localism I read about did not exist.
Like Puerto Escondido, Newport Beach etc, some beaches can be good on the right swell and when the sandbars have shifted in the right spot. In the main, they are a short ride and often closeout. You cannot compare them with the reef breaks like Pipeline which have a specific fixed Reef bottom
🙌🏻
Hey All, is it worth a trip to Peniche in January?
When was it filmed ?
Hey Nic, Maybe good to know for people not knowing Peniche, but Papoa, is "local only"... surprised that it was pointed on the map at 0min44, as this spot is unfriendly for foreigners... Anyway, so many other option than Papoa, for every levels of surfing, is true. Respect locals riders is still important in a "classic day" in Peniche cause sometimes looking at people riding staying out of the water, will help you to learn much more than trying to surf it, and understand how technical those waves are ! Comparing Supertubos to Puerto Escondido, or Pipeline... Yeah I never been to those place. but "Supert" is a fast and powerfull A frame for advanved riders when it is more than 1m50 Thanks for your videos ;-) Like and subscribed

I love ❤️ this series. You're such a great ambassador to Portugal 🇵🇹 You articulate the message so well and have that culture that is sometimes missing from our North American friends/surfers. It really comes through in your videos 📹
Unfortunately Peniche has changed quiet a lot over the years. I lived and worked in Peniche for 2 years and visited it last year after 14 years. It was a bit of a shocker. There is a road which leads you around the bay from Supertubos to Baleal. Back in the days there were just land of some farmers, some sanddunes and a couple of local houses. Nowadays it seems like all the farmers sold their land and big companys had build houses, hotels and surf camps. It was already super crowded back then but now it's just ridiculous. Local shops were eaten up by big supermarket chains and there are more surf camps in town than you can think about. The surf industry has pretty much destroyed this little lovely place which it used to be a couple of moons ago. Might be good for some people working wise and of course from an economical point of view but nature wise it is and will be a very sketchy conversation.

That seems to be common fate of places once considered "Surf Havens", loved to death. The ocean still delivers and it pays to focus on the positive rather than the downside, otherwise you may as well give up surfing.

The amount of likes on this post shows how much people love negative news. I really don't like people complaining about this topic since its just how it is. Stop complaining and have fun and if you don't have fun in Peniche go somewhere else.
Peniche has great waves, but the surfing locals there must be the madest & most aggressive in whole europe.... they should revceive a award for "Most grumpy locals in EU"

@@tobgrub Really? I don't know. I haven't surfed that many spots outside Peniche and Santa Cruz. Yes, people here are grumpy, including me. I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth and I'm no stranger to depression and bad moods. Yes, sometimes it's difficult in the line up as well, that's true. but if I compare that to what I see on the internet, basically Australia, you can't tell me that people here are soooo bad. Are they?
