    Over the last few years, Abstract art has really gone to another level. Especially the Acrylic Pouring stuff, which is mind blowing the results it creates. Awesome.

    I love it. Very inspirational. I am going to try this when I can wrap my head around how to build the pendulum contraption. This reminds me of the artist, Callen Shaun. He combines spinning and pendulum.

    Hello Thorben, our pendulum was pretty straight forward but it did involve the use of some lighting truss we use for trade shows. The bottles were empty Fluid Color bottles in which we had made a small hole on the bottom corner that we covered with tape until we set the pour in motion. To maintain momentum as the paint poured out we also added extra weight to the pendulum.

    Hello, just came across your videos! So cool and strangely, very satisfying to watch! I'm thinking about getting into this myself along with paint pouring as well. But for pendulum painting my question is, is there a general rule that says this much paint will cover this much surface? How much paint was used in each bottle for the first video?

  • @GoldenPaints

    @GoldenPaints

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello Nicholas, there is no general rule ... in this demo the bottles on the pendulum are 16 oz each that we filled a little over half each (let's say 10-12 oz). Coverage wasn't as much the goal as pouring time, and you'll notice the matte pour was much faster and splashier because CPM Matte is lower in viscosity than Gloss and we didn't decrease the size of the holes in the pendulum bottles to account for this difference. If it helps you judge the paint coverage, the panels used are 4x4 feet each, and this was wet-into-wet pour so there was about 8-12 oz of CPM used to coat the panel before setting the pendulum loose. This was our first an only attempt at this, I am sure there are a few things we'll do differently next time.

    Does doing it on a wet paint base differ from a dried paint base? Is there a benefit?

  • @GoldenPaints

    @GoldenPaints

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello CherylAnn, If you do this on a dry base it is beautiful - but pretty different. Going wet-on-wet, as in this video, the paint dripping from the pendulum will move a little after it lands and bleed or drift depending on the relative density of the pigments (check out the pigment density chart in the Just Paint Experience: www.justpaint.org/pouring_post/). Wet on dry, the paint tends to stay put and you get a texture of the paint film over the surface.

    What's the white solution you pour into the canvas first?

  • @GoldenPaints

    @GoldenPaints

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello Niki, I am so glad you asked! First, this pendulum pour was done on a 1/2" foam board - not a canvas. We don't recommend using a stretched canvas as the Pouring Medium will have a tendency to pool at the center of the canvas. So, using a panel, we coated the panel with Color Pouring Medium Matte mixed with Fluid Titanium White for a "wet into wet" pour which allowed the colors to move around a little after landing on the surface of the panel. One of the folks working on this video also did some pendulum pours on dry panels, which gives you much more predictable and cleaner line.

    What do you do to the bottom of thoes bottles to make it do that

  • @GoldenPaints

    @GoldenPaints

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hello Pure! Just a hole, really in the corner just above the bottom, covered with electrical tape until we were ready to pour. Adding weight (ballast) is vital because the motion and momentum of the pendulum depends on it and it loses weight as the paint drips out.

    very nice. recently started recording ours. been doing it for about a year now but started experimenting with black light fluorescent pours. only problem with the fluorescent is the way the bleed and blend so they look better in the blacklight and also better on the video then dried. great time killing hobby though. here is ours. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqWe0ptqp9O_lrA.html
