But there was no doubt that Gallo in the past did have a habit of going rogue and free lancing in which Casey let him have it big time.

This is what Ward did after everything with Hive. He didn't die he just went into hiding and created the fake alias of Jason Pelham for himself

I do not like that episode

''upset that he's being treated like a candidate'' But that's EXACTLY what he is. Doesn't matter if someone from outside came to the house, he already proved himself enough to be made Lt. while Gallo is honestly an obnoxious kid, who is acting like a child. No wonder Violet ran to Chief Hawkins to at least have a chance at a mature, grown up relationship, and hopefully she does. She would've never got that with Gallo, who is still in the stage of 'pulling the girl's pigtails, because he likes her'.
