this shows that kali knife combat is absolutely deadly the way it hurts how much more if that's a real knife and real combat.

Nice sparring. The guy in the khaki pants is obviously just new to this. The guy in the dark pants is a bit experienced.

This is really good, full speed stuff! I always wonder why they spend so much time on flow drills and disarms when that isn't what happens at full speed. They should just practice what they see works in real-time.

It's because they both know the martial art. What if they are on the street and this drunk man trying to stab you with his knife, that's the time disarms works because they don't know how to counter the moves of people who knows this art.

the drills are meant to build muscle and neural connections that is beneficial for fighting. It's no different than a boxer doing stuffs like speed bags, skip ropes etc. Real fights are very unpredictable, you can't just plan and only practice those stuff because it's not gonna happen that way. What you need is to be ready for anything so that when an opportunity presents itself, your body is prepared to execute your will. Up against an untrained person, even though it's not a guaranteed win, you will have an advantage.

Flow is to Kali what paper targets on a range are to shooting from my understanding.

Comfort zone. 3 taps on the same arm have to become 3 taps on 3 attacks of that arm. One tap + one strike with the other hand. Changing speed in the drill, try to score in the drill... . Most people just don't go there. Both guys are beginners here. They try to score and go out. Best way to double kill - as soon as you go for the body instead of the arms. Three taps in the drill - two on the outside. See them really search the outside ? Despite the circling - no. Drills without body positioning lead to that. Stay close till you get the flanking-leave is the first main message of hubud lubud. Drills teach you by mistake. You gotta add, not nag. - But some of my sparrings look the same. Too big gloves, too rigid knives with little protection. Gamechanger.

in real life never parry a knife with bare hands knowing that you have one with your hands, instead use your knife to defend from his knife. when he slash use your knife to slash his slashing hand. (though this one need a very accuracy seeing the slash and speed in countering in) Just like one when using sticks, you defend it with stick. Only use your hands by the time you are close enough to take control of it, if not move backward, keep dodging backward, side to side moving away from his slash with your two hands just close to cover you stomach, chest and neck to avoid fatal hits. Practice footworks and waving drills for faster body reactions and muscle memory.

Nice but I would never use a small knife, 6 inches is the lowest I'll go. Thankfully my state has no limits to knife carry.
