I've watched so many embroidery videos but I have to say yours are the best. You explain so much better than others, are patient and go slow enough for me to really get it. I look forward to seeing more of your videos and just subscribed.

Hi Sarah. I bought a beautiful piece of Belgium linen as it was so lovely. Quick question if I may; should I back it with calico or another linen and then sew the design into the Belgium linen and the calico at the same time or not back it till finished? Or would the Belgium linen be better as a backing for one of your coloured linen squares and again sew the design through the backing linen and the coloured linen or sew in your linen then back it with the Belgium? Peter

The Belgian linen is probably too nice for a backing, do your embroidering on it Peter! If you feel it needs another piece on the back then I suggest a piece of cotton/calico. Put the two pieces together at the beginning and stitch through as one. If you want to you can sew the linen to the backing fabric first to stabilise them a bit then frame them together (if you are using a frame) so that they tighten to the same tension.

This is worked with Madeira Burmilana so it's one strand. The all about stranded cotton video will be useful when you get there!
