Interesting boat. Would love to see data for the trip : Solar efficiency - hours of genny running etc - power consumption / battery performance etc. i note the system uses a FP generator - which would not be my first choice for such a vital component in this install !! - they need servicing rather too frequently even when all is well.

Self tacking staysail , solid dodger , Inside steering > Perfect ... Electric sheet winches ? Just missing a good reliable diesel shaft drive .

Mediterranean wind, there are only two wind speeds in the Med. Four or forty.

I noted that they had 20 on occasion. And with a code zero and/or a 140%+ genoa it’s surprising what speed you can make with a modern hull in sub 10kn winds.

Don't have detailed data but the solar gave us about half a kw, the prop regeneration gave us about 1.5 KW. when sailing above 6 knots. The gen is 11 KW and charged batteries at about 12% per hour. Running the electric drives around 4kw we motored at about 5 knots. Check out pegasus-yachts.com/ for more info. Interested to hear what generator would be your choice?

Actualy - the model of FP is a good one - Kabota engine etc & specced well for the install. My comment was poorly based on outdated FP experience - of a honda engined model probably now 15 + years old. Subscribed !

At 5 knots and 4 kw how far could you travel on. Battery in your opinion ?

You look like you had a good 1000W of panels? Anyway, 500W / 20 Amps (assuming a 24V system) is a useful output, but clearly not enough on its own. What was the battery capacity? Also surprised that there was no wind turbine. Might as well go for everything on an electric (hybrid) boat.

2:45 you need diesel for gens that power the batteries that power the electric motor? or just gen for service batteries?

no, its stupid, u need diesel to fill up the bats. Electric drives are ok for a lake or close to shore/harbor weekend good weather sailing. Totally useless for offshore. You cant run the electric drives off the battery for several hours straight (e.g. bad weather, medical emergency etc.), if you use a generator, it has to have enough power to run all boat systems and electric drives full blast nonstop (in this case i guess a 30+ kw gen?). And you will need a lot of batteries, which will be way heavier then any dieselengine (cuz u still need diesel for gen and heater...) Biggest negative is the added complexity of the system. Diesel engines can be run manually. If the electric gets fried by a thunderstrike or something like that, no chance with an electric drive...

Motors can charge the batteries when sailing or generator otherwise.

How did you like the Pegasus as a cruiser?

This was a delivery, but for cruising when you get to choose the best place to go dependent on the weather this would be an good boat - sails well, protected cockpit, easy to manoeuvre, quiet, etc.

Read the caption lol! Was was right for 14 knot boat speed? More conservative sailing because of delivery? Or you think higher speeds were possible

Quiet yes of course but range NO!!! If you are sailing around the coast then electric is an alternative but if you want to do longer trips then I wouldn't go for electric. I once had a boat for a weekend with electric propulsion and I don't want any more except for hybrid.

The generator provides extra power to increase the motoring range - but of course this is a sailboat that sails very well
