Ted, inspiring as usual. Your channel should top the list when it comes to learning all things photography. I had a question regarding your audio setup. I know about the sparrow setup however is that what you use for indoor vlogs/artist series etc? I guess not.

Hi Ted we haven't spoken for some time but, I've just come across this video and it made me wanna pick up my iPad and make a congratulatory comment on it. Just Wow! All your subscribers should watch this video. Pedro Meyer talks how we all should view photography. Photography is changing all the time and whilst we have an appreciation of the old masters (CartierBresson, Leiter, Winogrand, Lange, Stieglitz or Adams) there is no need to copy their styles except to learn from their mastery! Mr Meyer makes complete sense "why look into the future by looking in the mirror"! Wow what a statement of fact. We all as photographers look to create our own style but in my opinion therefore e is no need to reproduce old styles (film filters, colour effects - call it what you will). In all cases of photographic genre we need to be story makers our compositions will determine our style! Ted without doubt (in my opinion) this is one of your best in the Artist Series documentaries, of a photographer not talking about his work but photography in general - How refreshing!

The Art of Photography Ted, I aspire to make video stories of this quality. Of course it helps to have a subject who is good at saying the perfect thing, but Your sensitivity ties it all together in a poetic manner. Thank you.
"One of the big problems with modern art (long pause) is that it's a bunch of bullshit" That was a phenomenal opening to this video. Immediately paints you roughly a picture of his character.

Well I have to give him that for sure - and by modern it's not just the last few years....

I think what he probably means is more about contemporary art than modern art. He is an opinionated guy for sure.
Just great how the interviewer kept completely quiet and let Meyer speak his mind. Perfect !
Huge respect for Mr. Mayer for this simply superb monologue. Not accounting all the masterful stories he told via his viewfinder. Just love his style!
One of the best photography interview i've seen on KZread !!
Mr. Meyer has some very strong opinions, but they're also very true and inspiring. Great job with the video, I'm loving this new season.
Wow, Ted... I'm speechless.. This is my favorite one of the series yet and it came at a perfect time in my life. I'm incredibly grateful for these wise words and will always remember this.. Thank you for putting in all the effort and please thank mr. Meyer for changing my perspective and hopefully my direction in life. Now I'm looking forward to all what is to come.. Thanks again!
This is one of the best videos of photography I ever seen on KZread. Truly inspirational! Thanks Pedro and Ted
Thanks Ted! "I photograph to remember."

that struck a chord with me also. "the minute I die it all becomes obsolete" powerful.
Hats off Ted! Incredible stuff, not only about photography but about creative art in general. In my view, the only reason we're here.
Loved it.Just real honest words about the progression of the medium.
I'm a long time catching up on your content Ted but this guy just turned into my hero. What a life philosophy he holds, and... He's right. The world moves forward, every day, every minute, every second. If you're not moving with it, you are left behind. I just got schooled. Thank you.
Felt like a movie wow, so real. The lighting, the delivery, not to mention pedro droppin gems. Thank you !
He's a fascinating man who has obviously ruminated upon his life as a photographer prior to filming this. Rather than simply offer fawning praise I'll offer a couple of constructive criticisms as part of the dialogue that stems from my respect for him. It's almost as if he's implying that a 'perpetual irrelevance' ends up permeating all of our bodies of work at some point. He noted that his own photos lost their relevance (power?) after a few years. He remarks that some younger photographers have a romantic fixation on traditional film cameras (he uses the large format 8 x 10 as an example) for traditional landscape work... something he notes that was being done 150 years ago. I genuinely admire his willingness to embrace new camera technologies as part of the 'storytelling' for photographic storytellers. The danger is that we become a slave to technology and to 'new tools' to the point that we inadvertently sneer at the use of older 'tools'... that is, that we end up romantcizing new tech in cameras in the same way that perhaps some sentimentally cling to older film/analog tech exclusively. These days I look at cameras as an alphabet or as syntax: the alphabet has been around a very long time but there are still new ways to use the core twenty-six letter Phoenician alphabet that most of us are using to share our comments on this video (and these letters go back as far as 2700 B.C.E. in origin). I doubt that any of us would say that we have drained the potential of the Phoenician alphabet to this point in 2017 to tell new or additional 'stories'. The same can be said for film or digital cameras: they are simply tools to neurally share experiences/rumination/the unconscious. I'm not trying to denigrate the man or his message... I'm simply adding a few thoughts in a variant direction. Personally I still shoot film and digital (though I mostly digitally via an iPhone SE or an A7RII). Though I truly appreciate the power of Face Recognition and Eye Priority AF in my A7RII it doesn't 'ruin' my experience (or ability to 'tell a story') if I use my Minolta Maxxum 9 or Contax G2. One other thing is that people respond different emotionally to a Polaroid camera than they do to a mirrorless camera when you ask to take their photo. Once I fire off one shot from the Polaroid almost everyone there gets a big smile on the face that 'these things are still around'. That seems helpful, too, in a nuanced regard. You have uploaded some great Artist Series work the past weeks, Ted. :)

Streets of Vancouver I enjoyed this article by Ming Thein on photography being derivative blog.mingthein.com/2014/10/07/derivative-works-and-photography/ Perhaps photographers are too nostalgic, I don’t know. However, I see myself as part camera collector, part photographer but rarely “artist”. I shoot for my own enjoyment and that’s enough for me.

What is it about prints? You can hold them in your hand: they're a material artifact. CGI & virtual reality have their story-telling advantages, but they can't replace an attempt record what we see. Of course, the latter involves varying degrees of selectivity, but, even so, it's rooted in what's seen. Another point -- photography has never been all about story-telling -- think of Weston or landscape photography, for example -- and, I believe, it would be a mistake for photographers to move too far in that direction.
Pedro is a straight forward and to the point sort of personality. The contrast between Pedro and the other artists gives this series a wide spectrum of photographers as well as photos. This is a photographer i can relate to and i thank you for that Ted. Classic Line 87 - How many photos can you publish of yourself drunk and still remain entertaining? Not many...
Ted, I am blown away by the incredible amount of knowledge contained in this 15-minute video. Unbelievable! I can tell you how inspired I am right now. Thanks to you and Don Pedro Meyer!
This series is the very thing Pedro is speaking about. Wonderful channel and truly inspiring work.
The artist series is awesome, with this video being the top of the list of what I have seen so far. Not only is Pedro Meyer the most eloquent and interesting of the photographers shown until new, also the production of the video is great. Thanks a lot to all involved who made this possible.
What a fantastic character! His opinions are loud and clear - and oh so true for me. Thanks for finding him and bringing him to my notice, Ted.
I thank you Ted for one of the most "candid" and thoughtful interviews ever to Pedro Meyer. IMHO Pedro is the most influential "photo thinker" alive in Mexico, despite the opinions of scholars, curators, critics, et al in the photo scene around.
So refreshing to see a well established artist looking forward and not sleeping in wat was accomplished decades ago... This guy is thinking beyond the medium. Well done Ted!
What i love about Pedro Meyer, is that his like a grand father sitting with his grand kids and giving them a lesson on life. Thank you Ted, this was truly amazing!
Hi from Venezuela-Panama. The speech of this man is something GREAT !!!
This is still one of my favorite interviews you have ever done Ted. Thanks for all you do.
His photography is breathtaking. By far the best in the series thus far. I wish it were longer than 15mins.
what a character !!! great video ted !!!! probably the most inspiring one , less photographic content but more visionary , his idea goes probably against the majority of photographers but it surely embraces the future . keep up please;)
The more I watch this video, the more facinated I become with his perspective. Not to agree or disagree but to understand his point of view. A great video and worthy of watching several times. Thanks
Fantastic! I have always like this channel because I thought it has great information, but with Graciela Iturbide and now Meyer this channel has turned truly inspirational. Great job Ted, thank you so much!

Exactly my two favorites from the whole series!
Wonderful episode. Possibly the best so far. Love his opinions and how he presents them. Certainly provides food for thought!
Thank You Ted for showing this video, I am looking forward for more of these series, and Pedro, Gracias
Great video as always! One thing that I feel is worth pointing out, is that a lot of photographers like Pedro Meyer grew up and used film throughout a big portion of their lives. They are on a completely different level, to them the tool used is just that, a tool. The things you learn shooting film, the many "aha!" moments, these things extremely valuable to someone born into the digital era.
I love everything about this! I've never heard anyone, including older generational photographers critiquing new age photographers using "old school" processes. 7:56 - It's usually the opposite, where they complain that new photographers haven't learned film, origins, etc. - Some great advice to think ahead in order to stay current and to predict where photography will be!
In a word, brilliant. Thank you so very much Ted.
A Masterpiece! Thank you so much, Ted!
Well that felt like a slap in the face a bit... Very strong points though. Hmmm so much to think about now.

With every personality you must consider they are all human... their talent and skill may be exceptional, but at the end of the day they are fallible. That's not to say he's wrong, but simply to say that he will have his own beliefs of a medium, one I actually could not get into until I found film. He can tell me to get a mirrorless camera all he likes, because shooting with the latest and greatest is his idiosyncasy, but at the end of the day I'm still shooting on 24 or 36 negatives... because that's my idiosyncrasy. Really, all this proves is that photographers don't have to agree to be great photographers. One thing I've learned about photographers since getting into it myself... is that no photographer is alike. It's kind of beautiful how different we all are, in upbringing and method and reasons, and all these aspects of ourselves funnel in from so many directions, to the same few inch wide portal, and then project in as many directions.
I cannot even Begin to fathom the Genius of this man ........all I would like to say is a BIG THANK YOU for introducing him to me......just when i was thinking of investing in some film for my old film cameras ......not anymore My Iphone & Nikon Zindabad ........as we say in India :))
This man is a genius in his words and his images!
Wow, my favorite episode of the series! Pedro is the man.
Amazing one of the most inspiring episode of this series!!!!
Raw, Gritty, and Grabbing... really made me 'think' ...how to 'tell a story' using the visual artistic potential of Photography. Thank you for sharing. Well done.
Now there's a true artist. Thank you for capturing his story.
This has been one of my favourite videos in The Artist Series. Amazing work as always Ted, thank you for such inspiring content!
Thanks for sharing this interview with Mr Meyer. I love his PoVs
Man, I really love this channel. It has brought me so much moments of joy and inspiration, for the past couple of months. I’ve seen so much great work from noted photographers you mention in your show and the pictures from the viewers. This video is just another great example of the excellent work you produce. Thank you Ted.
Yet another thought-provoking video! Many thanks!
This was fantastic! What a great photographer and such a character.
what a great "grumpy old guy"...and I say that with all the respect in the world!!! He makes me think of what it would be like to have a talk with a grandfather who knows his way around the vast field of photography. Ted, I love, love the "feel" of the 3 artists that you have featured from Mexico. Being Latino (not from Mexico), I take pride on being well represented.
His ideas and his mindset are amazing!
WOW! Thanks very much. Very few people can talk about photography like Meyer.
Bravo Ted! Bravo! This one was so good! They way you produced this one - the story, the music, the photographs chosen. Bravo!
I just watched this for the 3rd time... each time gleaning something new. This was so so good... I would love to see more like this. More about the photographers emotions, thoughts concepts and struggles. It reminded me of a mini "Chef's Table".
What an interesting bloke as well as a great photographer. Thanks for the videos.
Ted, best one yet. That was beautiful. You don't see this attention to detail often on KZread. Your love of photography and story-telling is clearly a gift! Bravo!
Food for thought. Thank you.
Ted, I've been following you for a little while now, appreciating not only the knowledge you share but the way you do it is formidable, very well articulated with a varying tone of voice that projects passion. Today you really made want to leave a comment (I rarely do it, I should do it more often maybe) - Thank you for this Interview of "el Maravilloso" Pedro, I enjoyed the non-intrusive approach - he seems so inspired, this shows how assertive you are. I'm from Mexico and this interview is very significant for me.

I've been overseas for sometime but I'm flying back to MX in a couple weeks, can't wait to visit Cuatro Caminos. By the way, it'd be great to have a video/interview about mexican photographer Antonio Wallace Turok, one of my favorites.
I absolutely love this Ted!! thanks so much for bringing Pedro Meyer into the Artist Series! I found him so inspiring and with such a poignant (mordant) point of view! I could have listened him for hours
Truly inspirational and my favorite of the series. Love his conviction and passion. Awesome video, Ted! Thank you for all your hard work.
I'm in love with this series!! And this man is fascinating. Thanks for another great video.
This has to be one of my favorite ones to date! Keep it up Ted, lovin' season 2 of the series!!!
Brilliant interview of a very focused mind and heart! I first encountered Pedro Meyer's photography on his "I Photograph to Remember" Mac CD-ROM (remember those?) in 1997. I am glad to see and hear that he's still using the latest technology to tell emotionally touching stories through his photography.
Loved him! Great job introducing me to another artist I knew nothing about. Thanks
This has been quiet inspiring...and the work is amazing...this is a photographer that is passionate about his work..Thanks for this interview..beautifully done as well.... thanks again.
This is my favourite so far of the Artist Series, he speaks so well about photography. I could watch it every week. Keep up the amazing work Ted...
Amazing! Mr. Meyer is something else. I adore his work. thank you for this video Ted. Great job.
It is amazing how different all these photographers are! Thank you for that! Really inspiring.
What a great monologue. This is not only a very fascinating insight in the mans mindset and artistic personality, it is also just done brilliantly! No interruptions, no questions, nothing. Makes me think. Thanks, Ted
thank you for these series, TED!!!
Thank you for your beautiful work Ted, this one is my most favourite one so far!
His work really is amazing. It's obvious why he's in the lineup :)
Love the silence and air in between the talking here. The fact you're just letting the artist talk.
Yes, yes, yes...excellent! Love the interview. I have thought many of the things that Pedro has said and he opened my eyes to other important thoughts. I have had heard of Pedro Meyer before, but must admit to being unfamiliar with his work. He is certainly a master of his genre and an excellent storyteller. Thank you for producing this.
Fantastic !!!!! , great job Ted , thank you for make this great videos!!!!
Another great one. Thanks so much for your hard work with the Artist Series. They really do inspire.
Talk about getting inspired. Thanks Ted for this great and unic content.
My favorite episode yet. I've only watched 4 of them but I'll will watch them all. Thank you Ted, this is amazing.
That was fascinating! I enjoy listening to older people's thoughts. Thanks for sharing with us!
The best video I have seen about photography in a long, long time. Note only inspiring, but mostly clear and challenging. Congratulations on the video and on the whole channel, by the way. :-)
This is amazing!!!! Thanks for making this video!
Ted, thanks again for putting together this series. I especially want to thank you for present these wonderful Mexican Photographers. It has been informative and inspirational to see how the art of photography is perceived and created by people from other cultures.
Thanks for such a wonderful video...this video touched my heart.
Thank you so much for makeing the artist series. What a great insight.
Wow that was awesome! I just want to keep listening to him, inspiring!
Really well done. Thanks Ted. A great setting too.
I love your documentary style. Just let them talk and build the story they say. It’s great and I wish more filmmakers directed in this style
Amazing, you should do another series in Mexico. Such a rich culture.
uff esto es genial, Pedro Meyer da una clase fantástica de qué es la fotografía y qué realmente debemos hacer si nos dedicamos a esto, a que sale del corazón, gran video, gran entrevista, estoy aplaudiendo frente a la computadora.
This is amazing. Thank you so much Ted for sharing this great series. I've been taught so much by you about finding the creativity and purpose as to why I fell into photography to tell my stories and share my art. I appreciate everything. Please keep doing what you're doing. Thank you. :)
wow Ted! this was such a great episode! really enjoyed it. thanks for the great work and introduction Pedro Meyer (not sure where ive been haha)
Wise words. Wonderful story, he is telling. I have returned to analog photography myself after more than 15 years of digital fooling around from time to time. To me the big difference between analog an digital is, that with analog cameras, I have to think before I press the shutter button. With digital, I can just take 15-30 different shots of the same subject, and figure out what works - if anything, by looking at the results on a screen. With analog cameras, the result is a physical photo in the end, that I hold in my hand and maybe study under a magnifying glass. I don't want to repeat, what people did in the past. I do my things with analog cameras now...
Very good ... This is a very strong video, and I've been looking at it for the third time. Thank you that you maid this.
I love how direct is he to tell the things, he knew because he was leaved and you can see that
So good, thank you for this!! Fascinating.
Thank you so much for making this video. I found myself hanging on to his every word, what a fascinating person.
Ted, I hope that you get some recognition for these wonderful videos that you have produced.
Great video, Ted, this series gets better and better.
Thanks for sharing beautiful film and very inspiring
Ted, this is one of the most inspirational videos I've ever watched! I'm not a photographer but a blogger who wants to make my blogs better for the people who read them. I can take so much out of this vid and apply it to what I write! Thanks so much.
Thank you for this Ted! I love how he talks about the photographers' need to look towards the future and not live artistically in the past.
Your videos keep me exploring and keep med inspired to work on my photography. Thank you so much for the work you do for this community. Bless you Ted!
Best yet Ted, Bravo, so so much to think about here, Thank you for bringing this lucid verbal and visual wisdom to our attention. And So Artfully edited! The birdsong soundtrack mix wonderful.
