And it's been pointed out that there's books included in the same image and when you look up the author of those books it's just creepy and insane. I'm horrified. I pray for all children. So we're supposed to believe that no one at Balenciaga had a proposal/brief they signed off on for their photoshoot and at no stage did anyone question that crap? I did some work as an illustrator for a fancy hotel chain. I was given a brief and had constant check-ins with them until they were happy and signed it off. And that was just for a room menu. There's no way in hell that Balenci-freakin-aga is just going to let some weirdo do whatever they wanted and know nothing about it or apparently care. Total BS.

People have gone out of their way to essentially disguise BDSM gear, including collars, as “goth” aesthetic. And as someone within the BDSM crowd, it bothers me for numerous different reasons. Nonetheless, it just makes it easier for these things to get shown to kids, and that’s just sickening.

@@lucifernazaedi Well, as someone who used to be in the goth crowd, a lot of that is simply because there is significant overlap between the two. Lots of goths are into BDSM. If you ever find yourself in a cybergoth club in particular, you'll notice half of them are essentially in fetish gear. And that's not surprising. Goths are in general obsessed with pain.

@@jbird4478 I'm not so sure about that. Most of the people that I know that are a part of the BDSM culture, are not goth. If anything, including myself, they are like every day people with jobs and kids. You wouldn't even suspect that they were into that stuff. In addition, I have Christian/conservative friends that partake in BDSM (although not the majority) and they certainly aren't goth. Now, I do know that many people like to appropriate BDSM culture such as collars, or even pretend that a little pinch on the cheek is "sadism/masochism". There's also... emos. (I hope you also realize that there's a lot more to BDSM than pain... a lot more).

Demna’s a creative genius. He starts a conversation on very sensitive subjects, whether it’s a war relating issue or Soviet Union related content fused with pop colture. The way this was portrayed doesn’t define his brand at all. And before dissecting Balenciaga’s instagram pictures featuring children you should look at Candice Owens defending the literal children slaughterer Pu*in with vocalizing his propaganda for months now. I condemn any kind of child abuse but it’s hypocritical when you keep people who indirectly or directly support dictators (bombing children’s hospitals) around.

My first designer piece ever is from Balenciaga, and I know it was a bad financial decision that I made when I was younger, but anyway it’s kinda sad that I can’t wear that piece anymore since now it equals to support child molesters. Seriously this is disgusting

That's disheartening :< Kids are less baby-ish at the age and start thinking for themselves/start acting like small pre-teens, but usually any kids saying weird stuff is a red flag that they're being abused, since they otherwise shouldn't have access to very adult vocab and behaviors yet -- unless someone introduced them to it.

They didn't back down because they got 'caught.' Obviously people would see it and 'catch' it. They did it to test the waters - to see how much further they could go at this time. So they take a strategic step back for now. Later, when the dust has settled, they'll do something similar to see if they've moved the chains at all. This is the mindset - how far can we go. In private, they talk about these things all the time - it's a big joke. It's just a matter of stretching what is acceptable a little at a time. And of course they're right - look how far they've already come.

In my classes, we always have a few moments to discuss current events and the social mores of our day, and students usually want to talk about the elections, local crimes, the latest that Biden tried desperately to say, possible WWIII, etc. During one class back in September, a student brought this very kind of thing up in class, and she backed up her comments with references to respected publications that were defending the sexualization of children and pedophilia, etc. One lady went to my boss to complain about what she'd heard in my class. She was so shocked at what she'd heard that she thought it had to be a "made up" story. When she learned that the topic was all too real and legitimate, she was floored and horrified. More people than we might realize are mostly ignorant about what's being promoted in our culture, and people desperately need someone like you, Brett, to alert them to this stuff.
