Pediatric doctors and nurses are something else. When my son needed surgery they let him hold on to his stuffed animal in the OR. When he was done, they had given the animal an IV and dressed his arm just like my son, and the doctor even repaired a small tear in a seam with some stitches.

When I was little I had a lot of bladder issues and when I was 7 I had to have surgery. The doctor let me take my stuffed Minnie Mouse into to OR with me and when I came out they let me help put in a little IV for her. It made me less scared and I knew I wasn’t alone on my journey. Fast forward 7 more years, I had to have the same surgery again a couple of months ago, and they did the same thing with one of my squishmallows. It made my day, even at 14 years old!

My child had 16 back procedures. I was there for all of them. I walked back to the OR with her time and again. It was fascinating, and heart wrenching. She had a loose tooth one time, which we told them, routine, and when they brought her back from recovery, they had a plastic bag with the tooth, a sticker, and 3 dollars. I was staying with her overnight and brought in the tooth fairy pillow. She was given an additional $25. (My dad loved to "pamper" (spoil) her.)

I think it’s more a case that he is still a child at heart … or he remembers what it feels like to have had a doctor who helped him feel better when this doctor was a child himself. I suspect that he was a “sick” child when he was small child himself & he had a doctor who treated him the same way that he had had who acted in the same way so he took care of him the same way that he now treats the young That he now treats his young patients he now treats his own patients.

I mean yes I agree it isn't easy, if you as a medical professional are in a mental state where you are taking the stress out on your patients then you need to take a step back and reevaluate why you did that and what you can do to help your mental health and help you treat your patients more kindly. My friend just had a baby and while some of the staff were amazing there were a few who were absolutely horrendous. My friend was high risk and she never dilated past 7cm and so she may have needed a c-section. A nurse gave her food (which she was only supposed to be on a liquid based diet) which was dangerous as it could have caused asphyxiation during the c-section, luckily she didn't need the c-section but she was in rough shape after and it was almost a c-section.

I took a hard fall a week ago, at 65, never in my life did I have the opportunity to meet a narcissist nurse (male, if it makes a difference?) He actually self admitted it when I came out and asked him directly, you're a narcissist aren't you? He answered back, PROUDLY yes, yes I am!!! I was floored by his admittance. It just is the wrong profession for a narc to thrive in! Grandiose in that moment, imo, but I don't know this Dx he had, far cry from a covert narc I've enmeshed myself with.

The True Definition Of A REAL MAN!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Now this is how it’s done!!!! ❤❤❤❤ Much respect!
He’s an Angel in human form. I’m not a religious person but I know we have people on Earth with Angel souls. 😇🥰
My son's doctor is just as loving to my son as this doctor is to his patients. My son is already 34 years old but has spent the last ten years of his life in and out of hospital, and not all his doctors have treated him well so I feel blessed to have Dr. Stephen Miller at Weiss Memorial in Chicago as his doctor. He is one of our biggest blessings and I will never have enough words to thank him for giving my son his loving care! ❤️ ❤ ❤

I know Weiss Hospital! Southeast side. We lived near 87th&Commercial from '09-2014. I'm glad to hear there is at least one amazing doctor that advocates for your son. My son (low functioning Autistic) has had doctors refuse to be near him; calling him (from an adjacent room) "an animal". 🥺 I pray for your son, you and his team. #Endure 💐
So sweet and beautiful!!! Way to go, Doc! And kids!
THAT'S SO SWEET! 😭❤
I bet he was these kids once and understands. What a sweetheart

Yup just so I can’t even get one visit with a good doctor due to making 100 dollars more than I’m supposed to for government assistance.
What a badass, these people are so so instrumental in a child's healing, bless them.
Amazing and Great👍👍👍Really the doctor understands the pain and gives them all great relief🥰🥰🥰
Honestly peds doctors are next level. I had to get emergency surgery to get my tonsils removed when I was 9 and when they were wheeling me to the operating room they turned the gurney into a race car and whipped around all the corners making car noises. Absolute best

@@hectorvargas4771 its incredible how resilient our kids are. Its a blessing in disguise that it was early on, my son is 7 now and does not remember at all. I think it can be more traumatic for older children to experience and for parents because of how much we worry

@@megfuchs9425 I was at Toronto Sick Kids hospital, so it probably helped that it was a dedicated pediatric hospital? IDK. They also taught us stuff like breathing techniques for pain control. The breathing stuff may have been because it's nicer for the nurses if a kid is panting when they get a needle, rather than screaming. 😂

@@tonygroves5526 I was a kid in the 1970's. They just didn't do stuff like that back then. I remember my first x-ray at Shriner's Children's hospital in Pennsylvania. I was so scared, cause I thought it was going to hurt. The nurse told me that if I didn't stop crying I would never see my mom again!! I am not even kidding!
You are so compassionate. Bravo.

This is what a doctor that cares for the patients looks like
A nurse/doctor who takes the time to comfort can really change everything. When I was in pain and afraid in the hospital a nurse rubbed my hair, and spoke softly to me and I cried in relief; a human connection can be so healing.

It's happiness ,joy and laughter that helps healing and comforts.. prayers and blessings for this doctor and for his character to never change.
I pray this doctor lives a long, healthy and successful life. Love u
I had to have surgery when I was 14, my little sister was the one freaked out. The staff dressed her up like a little surgeon and she busted in the room talking about "we're ready for the shrugery! The patient is in greater hands" Some docs go above and beyond ❤️

A sense of empathy and compassion is something that all health care workers should be encouraged to have. This guy is awesome! ❤️
I love when pediatric doctors break character to be silly with the kids, my daughter's cardiologist turned away while talking to me about heart murmurs to tickle my daughter's feet and blow raspberries, then just turned back around without missing a beat. cutest thing ever, these people really have a calling
