At certain point the rock could had just simply pushed over and finished this dicking around, or as the Brits would say cocking about. It’s quite annoying to watch amateurs making something simple into something complicated.

Great idea needs a good operator instead of what is possibly just the manager having a quick go of a new toy

I would install a different tip, more like a flat chisel with an inside curve and possibly a rough serration on the edge. It may not last as long as a pointed tip, but would be much faster to get the crusher up and running at capacity. The pointed tip tends to slip off too much.

I was initially thinking this too , but he probably can’t see anything and relying on someone else’s direction ? Maybe , just a thought

Is this the first time the operator used this piece of equipment?

I was asking myself why other companies didn't use this thing. That crusher can process a lot of rocks fast, but look like boulders get stuck way too often.

now there would just have to be someone who can operate the thing properly ^^ : D

It look like a salesman running it trying to get them to pay for the hammer when all they need is a pick on that thing to push it down.

The sharp point is doing them no favors.

They will get better with experience. Crack the nut flip the nut, quick as. Better than the old hook idea, it could only flip the nut.

There is a reason, why most of the set ups use hooks. Unless the bit placed vertically, it is inherently unstable & can not deliver the force. It is a slow process for such angled applications.

It helps if you have a competent operator

Better than a crude hook, but still suboptimal here regarding positional actuation. Perhaps the operator was new?

Reading all the comments some of you have no idea how technical it is to operate a rock breaker with breaking it or flicking the spider cap of the crusher

Those types of hydraulic breakers/hammers always have weak lateral strength. Without straight-line impact they are less than desirable.

Better solution: Fire the load foreman at the dig site for allowing skip loaders to be loaded with oversized tailings. These boulders should not make it to the trucks until they're first broken up.

The idea is to remove the obstruction...the operator is “breaker” fixated...the first smack got it where it needed to be then he could have just knocked it down in the hole...painful to watch...
