I hope this technology keeps evolving and adopted in the mainstream and the prices come down. I love my RV, but I will openly admit that typically, unless you want a tiny teardrop trailer - RV-ing still equals a heavy trailer and a V8 pickup. That leaves many folks out of what is a very enjoyable hobby.
It’s actually a good deal in comparison to an AirStream. Probably about the same price and a lot more perks.

I think this is a wonderful unit....and my $20K 19' travel trailer with 200amp LiFe batteries and 450watts of Solar panels seems just a bit more economical. We've traveled with it since 2015 and the money it has saved us by 'eating in' and boondocking is surprising. I suppose this would be a nice way to blow $100K....-Veteran '66-68

This is a beautiful trailer and ground breaking tech. I love the idea of a battery that allows you to camp off grid without a generator, and helps you get there too. Also it’s big enough to power your house in a blackout, a huge bonus. Very exciting product!

HOW? I know it's possible? I would appreciate if you show me how to go about it.
This is what travel trailers should be in the year 2023, but innovation in the RV industry sadly always seems to fizzle out. I hope this one doesn't though.
Next thing Pebble needs to solve is charging station layout. They need to either develop their own charging network that offers pull-through stations so you can charge your vehicle AND the RV at the same time via DC. Or work with companies like EA/EVgo/Tesla/Rivian/etc. to strategically add capable stalls to their new and existing sites. Doesn't need to be all of them, just ones that make sense. In my opinion, that will be the biggest barrier. I would probably need to charge twice on a 450 mile road trip. The convenience factor goes down exponentially If I can't actually charge the thing practically.

Me too! I've been thinking of these for the past 3 years now. Trailer companies need to start making trailers with batteries in a skateboard platform. They need to be able to plug into the rear of EVs to help provide more range while towing. Though, EV manufacturers will need to have another plug port placed at the rear of the vehicle for that. My thought would have two different lengths of trailer platforms. A shorter one for an open trailer bed used for hauling another car, landscaping and construction companies, an enclosed box trailer for hauling things, or a mini camper. Then a longer platform for bigger campers, horse trailers, or anything else. The extra weight of another larger battery would be a hindrance, but more range would still be provided. However, with innovations in battery technology happening quickly, lighter batteries like solid state will soon be here.

I like the idea of supplementing gas not replacing. Reducing the gas used to pull the trailer by having an electric motor trailer is smart. End of the day, if it runs out of electricity my truck can still pull it and I'm not worse off than normal. But best case scenario the panels keep the battery topped up and now the truck is using less gas to pull the thing. This is how things should be, not an impact to your life in a negative way the way but supplement to your life in a positive way. Kind of pricey though don't think you would recoup your money from gas savings on this thing, but might reduce wear and tear on the truck by having it pull less.

A future electrical nightmare starting at a low price of $109k
It looks interesting, way out of my price range. But the automatic hitch hook up simply wouldn't work in many of the campsites where I go. Lots of national forest and state park campgrounds have uneven rocky and gravelly sites at the front wheels simply wouldn't move on.
There are so many problems here .... 1. Sleeping space over a Li-ion battery pack is a potential death trap. Is the battery pack equipped with heat/smoke alarms? 2. How is the battery cooled? 3. The nose wheel is too small for effective operation on dirt or gravel (this thing is for camping, right?) 4. The battery pack must be heavily armored against damage from road debris or uneven surfaces (not mentioned). 5. Batteries are heavy - vehicle weight not mentioned - the product should have 4 wheels, not two, for greater safety. 6. Tire load rating and quality are crucial, a blowout on any 2-wheel camper can be catastrophic and this one is heaviest in its class. 7. The driving dynamics of pulling a trailer that pushes weren't mentioned. A fifth-wheel setup is more stable because pushing force would be applied closer to the tow vehicle's center of mass. Pushing on the tow vehicle's bumper is inherently unstable. 8. Does it have regen braking? How would its regen braking sync with the tow vehicle's regen braking? 9. What is the federal and state legality of motive campers? Where is the developer in the homologation process? Thanks, CNET for the stenographic advert. You totally researched this one.
It’s cheaper than I was expecting.
All things considered that’s not a bad price
Why didn’t you show us the inside more?
Hooking up is a hard thing to do? Maybe if it emptied the black tank on its own then I’d check it out lol.
I think they are missing a trick here with the solar panels. You should be able to get more than 1kw without adding weight. My impression is that the solar system is an after thought
Only $109K?? I'll take 3!!
Amazing concept but they should have done more research on top of the range caravans like Zone RV or Lotus that have a lot better tech than some of these features. Also this would never work off-road. Hopefully the next generations will be more refined!

Soon, it will become a self-driving RV that tows vehicles, instead.
The tech is cool, but with modern backup cameras hitching is easy. Plus the trailer is really expensive, add in an expert EV and it nakes way more sense to get a normal luxury travel trailer and a diesel pickup truck where range anxiety doesn't exist, itll cost tens of thousands less per unit, and tow way more with a diesel. Its cool but impractical.
@sherrimoquin5553

Nakes? You mean makes right
Cool to be able to park/fine tune rv position without tow vehicle. The range anxiety issue is a result of using a much less energy dense energy source/storage. Simply batteries dont have the energy density. It’s just physics. Example. My truck can tow 16k without a blink. With auxiliary tank I have 800 mile range. 15 minutes to gas up and boom another 800 miles. Leave the EV guy and his fancy trailer at the charging station while he sips a latte in his skinny jeans and man bun wondering if he is ever going to get to his destination. Another example applying great tech to wrong problem.

So you think maybe that’s because you practice? So what we’re talking about here is having no need to develop such skill, as anyone can hook up this trailer to a towing vehicle, no skills needed, as the trailer itself will be robotically hitched to the towing vehicle, and so I guess you missed that part. It should be noted, that it’s not just about hooking up to the towing vehicle, it’s about all the other amenities that come along with this type of trailer, and the fact that the one thing they didn’t mention in the video which amazes me that so few people seem to care about, is the impact on the environment or I should say the reduced impact on the environment, and don’t come at me with how we make batteries, because the industry is properly incentivize to find solutions, cut the cost of production by streamlining that whole process, and lessening the impact on the environment, and that’s exactly what innovation is all about, whereas burning fossil fuels, there is no innovation that can clean up that mess. So ICE is dead my friend, and it’s time folks like you get over it, because the world is moving on to a cleaner, greener, future, because it’s either that or you better start looking for another planet, and if you could find another planet, and you could get there, but take that same mentality to the new planet, that screwed up this one, what’s to stop you from doing the same thing to another planet? So no problem can be solved unless it’s first acknowledged, and then faced, and as James Baldwin famously said, “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” Capeesh.
