This is where the producers of peaky blinders have had a flea in their ear about diversity and the need to insert black people in to roles. To tick boxes. The show unfortunately takes a downward turn from here. I mean the idea that there would be a black colonel in the British army in WW1 Is fucking absurd. Not even a working class white ethnic brit can achieve that rank today. Let a alone a black man. Of which at that time there must of been about a hundred black people in the entire U.K. It’s such a shame. Was a good show. It was bad enough having the black priest, but this really did take the fucking biscuit. My grandfather was born in 1920. He hadn’t even seen a black person in the flesh in England until 1962 when he traveled to london.
