    Totally agree but I don’t think Rex dodges that spear Anakin refers to Rex getting a scratch right after this scene so I think it might’ve grazed his shoulder. Which in someways is cooler because he just Tanks it and moves on!

    I know a lot of people grew to dislike this episode as they got older but it honestly remains one of my favorites. Not only because it has some of the coolest action sequences in the series but the premise is actually pretty cool too. Simple but cool. Like, all these people are dying literally for one guy's pride. It's a lot of death that just didn't need to happen and it makes Rex's killing of the Talz kind of bitter. It actually demonstrates a darker aspect of Rex and the clones. These tribal aliens are innocent and Rex probably knows that but... Good soldiers fallow orders.

    Rex and the 501st were kinda forced to fight because they were ordered to protect the chairman- but the chairman wanted war. It’s why Rex literally said “We’re only here to protect you”. It was the Talz or clones, and the clones ain’t gonna go down without a fight.

    @@iech0526 I mean sure it was in self-defense but the clones still killed a bunch of the Talz. I mean sure the clones were forced in some sense but in another sense they weren't. It's not like they had guns to their heads. They could have just let the chairman die. If they really wanted to they could have. The Talz were after the chairman not the clones. Don't get me wrong this isn't a criticism of Rex or the clones and I didn't expect them to disobey orders. Rex is not a slave it was established that Rex believed in what he was doing. He believed in the Republic. He didn't kill the Talz because someone forced him he did it because it was his duty. A duty he is willingly bound to. It's something he chose to do because whether he agreed with it or not because it's his duty. But he still chose to fallow through with it. That's the darker aspect of being a soldier I wanted to highlight.

    This scene in particular was really cool cause it showed just how dangerous the Talz actually were after building them up the whole episode. And then once Rex and the clones got a handle on the situation despite being backed against a massive chasm it shows just how effective the clones are as soldiers even with just four of them. Even though they were massively outnumbered they killed a lot of the Talz before back up arrived to end the fight. Very cool scene

    The chairman should have realized this the moment half the troopers were killed in the first minute. The Talz had height, strength and tactics all in their advantage. They ambushed the clones, boxed them in, then attacked both in CQC and long range. If Rex hadn't ordered a retreat, the chairman would have gotten the entire squad killed

You got the angry power hungry Cho, who, if was still in charge when the Separatists blockaded Pantora, would have been singing a very different tune. You got Senator Chuchi, a woman probably younger than Padme when she became Senator. Imagine if a Pantoran Jedi had been on this mission. They would have been forced to choose between being a peacekeeper or to participate due to Chairman Cho declaring this war an internal affair.

    Because those are two completely different types of damage, which is why slugthrowers (actual firearms in Star Wars) are so deadly they have been made illegal in a lot of systems. Since most weapons in the galaxy are blasters, most protection was made to protect specifically against blaster fire in a way that the energy of the bolt is dissipated across the entire area for a lesser effect on the body. Armor rated to resist blaster fire cannot do much when you throw a solid metal projectile at it or you stab it. In Star Wars, people who survive a blaster bolt thanks to their armor go into medical care anyway because the blaster bolt still conserves some massive kinetic force that causes trauma to the body. So if a projectile that is effectively condensed gas can wound someone that badly through armor designed to resist it, an actual solid projectile with added weight will definitely go through. For example, there are videos on youtube of people testing medieval weapons on bulletproof vests and you'd be surprised at how easily some weapons go through. That's because bullet-resistant protections are designed to protect from bullets. Medieval armor had multiple layers of protections made to stop as much force as possible for the blade not to pierce through but it's equally useless against bulets. There is no armor that is designed to protect from every source of damage. Well there is, but it's way too heavy for a human to wear.

  • @SillyBrigade

    @SillyBrigade

    @@NolDragon I get the idea that the armor might not completely stop a spear but the issue is that from what we see they do literally nothing against it. Every soldier hit by a spear instantly dies and they get one taped meaning the armor is doing near nothing against spears which the idea that it can handle that basic sort of weapon makes the armor incredibly stupid. This is especially stupid when you realize that most of the spears are already traveling near inhuman distance which should make the actual velocity far weaker.
