Thank you for such a balanced and informative description of proper Peafowl husbandry. I learned many things. I thought I would share an interesting Peacock story with you. Me and my sis in law were at the Zoo in Birmingham, Alabama, US in the eighties with our young sons. By the way my sis in law was and is an unusually attractive petite blond, rosy completion, burly personality. This is important for later. We were moving through the various animal attractions. We moved through the avian area. There was a peacock who wandered freely through this area. He was quite taken with my sis in law. He would angle himself around her in order to be directly in front of her. He would then display in front of her. Rustling his pinions for maximum effect. He followed us from area to area. Repeating this behavior. He was in no way aggressive. Just clearly enamored of her. She was embarrassed and kept giggling. Whereupon he would make the maximum rustling sound. He was a spectacular specimen of his breed. He finally gave up, and headed back to the avian area. We thought this was fascinating. If you have any thoughts about this.....I would love to hear them!🦚💙💜💚

I hear these birds every morning on my way to my workout.They mostly roost in Douglass fir and other tree.I love their calls! They do land in fields but I've never seen them mix with wild turkeys. They have never bothered me.

I’ve raised peafowl for 15 years and have never had any aggressive ones.

Very much enjoy your work and love the animals. I too am looking to socialize and hand tame my peachicks. I like what you mentioned about peafowl being "wild" not domesticated animals who need longer bonding times. Thank you!!!

I loved your videos and bird tips! In South America there is a lot of talk about leaving the peacock chicks without contact with the soil up to a year old, because they eat the feces and get sick. Is this necessary? I am doing experience with chicks that were incubated with chicken. They are living loose along with the chickens, free.....

Good morening dear maam, thanks for your posts on peafowl. i have two peahens and a peacock, they have started laying but the result from archery is always that the eggs are not fertile and i dont know why? can u help guid me through on what may be the cause and what to do. thanks ADEMOLA

@HappyTailsAnimals I have 2 questions for you. On the farm where I live we have a 3 year old peahen who decided to lay eggs in my vegetable garden so we decided to incubate the 2 eggs because she was leaving them at night to sleep up high in her tree as usual however as soon as I did that she laid a couple more eggs and has been sitting on them in my garden for about 3 weeks now. My questions are… Should I somehow put the eggs I have in the incubator under her with her other eggs? Or continue to hatch the peachicks and then introduce her to them in hopes that she will accept them (they are all due to hatch within days of each other). If so , when should I introduce them? Second question… The 2 peacocks we have now (1 male , 1 female) don’t have a coop as they sleep outside high up in a tree all night, how will the mother keep them safe from predators (coyotes, fox , skunks) should we build them a coop to keep them in? And if so for how long should they stay in the coop? I’m in Canada and winter is coming in a few months. Sorry for so many questions, I appreciate any advice, thank you 🦚💞🦚💞🦚💞🦚💞

Where did you get this egg? Are you planning on incubating?

Our peahen had 3 peachicks. One of them died from a neck injury or possibly wry neck? It couldn't use its neck. 5 days later another is dead. Im not sure about this one. No wounds but it's feathers seem scruffled.The third doesn't seem to be doing well. What should I do?? (All advice and guidance welcome! I don't wanna go lose this precious baby :(

One interesting fact is that peachicks resemble turkey poults

We have two peachicks and they are about 2 weeks old and we have them in our workshop and they have heat and they are with other babies, just in their separate enclosure. I see that you like to keep yours in your room and I was wondering if it was too late to transition them into our room and how long you keep them in there. Thanks!

Sounds like you aren't ready for this. I do not reccomend you hand raise these peachicks. Spending time with them is not the same thing as raising them with you. If you go through with this I do believe you will have very aggressive birds in 3 years.

If you are in North America remove the eggs and get her checked out. This is not normal and should not be encouraged. Make sure they are being cared for properly.

Hi, I keep peachicks with my chicken in their coop. There is no mother. They are artificially incubated. My peachicks always die one by one after they are 30-45 days old. What can be reason? What can I do to ensure survival? Pls guide

What do you mean

The Peacock is one of my favorite bird. The male has amazing colors. I believe that if we respect an animal it will not be aggressive. An animal that is aggressive has usually had a bad experience with a human or humans.🥰❤🧡💛💚💜🦚🦚🦚

Tell that to the rooster that was hatched by one of my hens who are well taken care of. They meet me at the gate when I get home from work. They are free range and only get locked up at night. They are very well fed and are almost all rescued from bad situations. My rooster however, attacks me daily for no reason other than he's an ass. He has ripped my jeans bruised and cut me! All I do in retaliation is hold him and love on him like I did when he was young hoping he will realize we can be friends. So far it hasn't happened. He has had NO bad memories with humans and he is still horrible!!!
