PEACEFUL SULU? This day certainly showed me that the island is progressing with peace and order. And tourism is helping! We continue on from our island hopping experience and find ourselves having an amazing lunch in the middle of the ocean. "Takut Islets" is an amazing place in Maimbung, a progressive Municipality on the southern side of Sulu's main island.
After lunch we visit three wonderful places in Maimbung...
The amazing Siyabit Tausug weavers at a livelihood center, a local waterfall, and the stunning mangrove boardwalk in Barangay Ipil. I am so grateful for all the experiences, and having a chance to experience the Province of Sulu. This is another raw look at some of our experiences!

I must say that Sulu is so beautiful from the beaches, to waterfalls, mangroves and especially the people. Contrary to what the media were saying about the place.

I always enjoy when you show the weaving skills of the local people around the PH. The patterns and colors are so beautiful and the skill necessary to create those intricate woven patterns is so impressive to me. Like you, I can hardly believe lola is nearly 100 years old! She looks so youthful. Just think of the knowledge she possesses of this artform. (I call it that because it is truly an artform, even if it is for practical use.) Living among such surroundings with the calming waters and in such a nurturing community must contribute to her maintaining her youthful beauty.
