PE: Chronic HTN - OSCE Prep (BP, Pulm, Cardiac, Vascular, Bruits, Screening OSE, Chapman Reflex)

This particular video is intended as a demonstration of blood pressure measurement as well as integrated physical examination and osteopathic structural examination that may be useful in evaluating a patient with Chronic Hypertension. Note: This video includes auscultatory sounds (BP Korotkoff sounds, heart and lung sounds, bowel sounds, carotid bruits, etc) that were obtained utilizing Eko electronic auscultation and audio capture devices. The overlayed sounds are edited for clarity and are not a perfect 1 to 1 representation of this specific standardized patient's findings. All sounds recorded and included are done so with permission from all sources.
It is not intended as a complete instructional video and should not be considered a source of complete physical examination instruction. It is also intended not as a perfect example of a physical exam that would be performed for a patient in clinical practice, but is designed to optimize function and efficiency for a OSCE testing setting.
Instead, it should be treated as a supplement to independent learning using primary Osteopathic Physical Examination instructional resources. Clinical skills are best learned and developed with support from faculty in the context of a complete Osteopathic Medical School Curriculum.
Osteopathic Clinical Skills is a channel dedicated to discussing and exploring Osteopathic Clinical Skills concepts for medical students, residents, and clinicians and presenting them in an easy to understand manner.

Another great video, the new sounds of the heart and breathing really surprised me. Love that you still take the BP manually, I hate the electronic cuffs.

Thank you! With the BP being part of the video, I decided to try recording the korotkoff sounds along with the heart, lungs, carotids, etc. I’m glad you liked it. And yes I agree- taking a manual BP is an essential skill. Nothing like hearing it for yourself.

Interesting the little things we notice (and the little habits we develop unconsciously with practice and experience). I never realized (until watching multiple clips and takes over and over during the edit) that I actually do that every time I wrap a BP cuff :)
