PDRM82D The Good British Geiger Counter
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Doing a quick review of the PDRM82D the good British Geiger counter made by Plessey/Siemens to detect dangerous levels of Gamma rays. Used by the British army around the time of Afghanistan and the war in Iraq.
Note how it barely registers Fiestaware but can see the DP-63A back screen easily due to the energy of the Gamma rays.
Overall a very good Geiger counter if a little bulky.
Please check out Surviving the Apocalypse who also did an excellent video on this counter.

Definitely my favourite military survey meter.
To prove I watched every second of the video - Thanks for the 2 shoutouts! 😉
Nice unit! love your videos. keep them coming :)
Great video! Keep it up man.
Very interesting
We had the orange one in the Observer Corps.
I was thinking of buying one for checking old radium watch faces but it wouldn't be sensitive enough, the basic one that is.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I saw the PDRM82D went crazy for the radium in the old Russian dial face. Would it be sensitive enough for the radium in a watch to trigger it?
PDRM-82F was the fixed one you're talking about for ROC posts.
I have a question about this unit, how will 1Gy and 10Gy be displayed on this unit? Will the decimal point shift to the right?
What batteries does it take please?
I wonder if a home brew probe could be hacked in place of the original probe? Greta video :)
Why are the Soviets making their geiger counter so radioactive? Do they make their fire extinguishers out of petrol and cotton? 😂
😂 looks like a Juryrigged PDRM-82. Probably energy compensated for 60kev-3mev for a flatter response.
I mean great video lol
300 cgy is only 300R
