@@TheCoinGeeky’all had later dip that quarter I think because doesn’t it end up in a CACG holder in 66 pl but it looks totally different from now
Ah, Ben getting cocky and going for a quarter upgrade with the usual result, that never gets old.

That ASE has got the "right" color progression, thats why it slabbed. Nice!
Lovely pieces.
21:10 it was nice and visible at that moment. Just as you gave up lol
Wow what an amazing 1989 ase that color holy cow I'm surprised they didn't say questionable color since pcgs calls everything that now . Great video.
We could see the superman S at times Ben , its really there 😄😁
Thanks for the video!
What an ending, ouch! Love the “Superbird” though.
Nice Morgan's. I think both grading companies like using that 63 grade waaay to much. I see 64's that look like 63's and vica versa. Sometimes grading doesn't make sense.
You should send in the toned silver eagles 1 per group you send in. Multiples make it look artificial
I agree, concerning proofs.Contrary to what you might think, they can be frustrating to grade. The criteria is not always obvious.
I just did my first coin submission with ANACS. Looking at that, I don't know why I would use PCGS. That Franklin should be a cameo.
Time to watch coin videos, weekend off yeah!!!
Seems like a quick acetone dip would have cleaned up those first two coins nicely.

Maybe. I've had that haze on quite a few coins and it wouldn't come off in acetone soaks. I think it's from the cellophane and it's almost like it's a part of the coin.

@@PRS-qh5jf OK Thanks for the information.
Lol that funny as heck on the 48 Quarter glad it doesn't happen to just me. I cracked out 5 coins once they all came back down graded, that's life in the fast lane fun video have a good day.
I just put together a 1954 set in NGC pf66 cameo for under $400. The .5 , .10 and .25 were all in the $40-50 range. ( not much more than grading fees) Seems like pretty good value versus sending off my proof sets and trying to get those grades.
Dang, I keep commenting on this one but, really great show and tell on grading with all the 1881S Morgan's, very informative !
That toned 81-S Morgan that came back 62 needs Valtrex. But otherwise, gorgeous!
Nice 😊😊😊
Haze on proofs can knock it a couple grades
I've always been curious about the consistency of grading... I suspect it's more of an art than science. Just for kicks, has anyone heard of anyone sending the same coin in , removed from the previous slab, like 10 times over a period of time and recording the results? Would be fun to know the spread of grades on the same coin.
Beautiful coins Ben!! Many seem under graded! Thank you!!
The superbird S is visible in most of those shots, just hard to keep steady
I need that toned eagle for my type set. 1989 is the last year I need In a 67
Hi, Ben. I don't like the fields on those 1955 coins, with the exception of the nickel, which isn't bad. I didn't like the 56 Franklin's field either. 😝I like this video more than the previous video. It looks a bit more fresh. I don't know about the "knob action" on that 1953 Washington. 🦉

When I saw the subject matter in this video, I came looking for you.
I've always wanted to run the prints on an older slabbed coin to see if it gets a hit.
Geez, that 48 is PL... and recently had my first experience with the Quarter Rule... thought it was a 67, but it came back a 66 🤷
I would have got wheel mark on that quarter, lol....
I hate to say it, but that 1948-S quarter did look like a 65 to me, but those 1881-S Morgans were all over the place. That was truly weird. It didn't feel like they were super conservative, or overgrading either. They seemed to be doing both.
If you still have these coins can you show the bell lines on the Franklins and talk about them?
Sublime.
I was busy making $$$$, darn it. #?? NOT #1 😔😁
So I was going to comment on the video with all the questionable color coins but got busy and forgot. Original toning on old coins should show a color progression, with pretty definite distinctions or layers. The colors can be very bright and be original, so long as they make sense. If a coin was in an old folder or bag for a long time, you will usually see the concentric rings of color progressing toward the center. If you see the bright colors on part of the surface, then they stop and the rest of the surface is blast white, then the coin was in a bag with other coins, and the part that is still white had a coin or coins against, preventing that part of the surface from interacting with the chemicals in the bag. Anytime I see the splotches of color I am immediately suspicious. Someone at some point likely dusted a holder with sulphur or other substance, or exposed the coin to different gasses and heat. Think of it like having a canvas and flicking a paintbrush at it, then another with a different color, and so on. The grading companies will almost always call that questionable.
I don’t think you really lost on that last quarter. A 65 in a PCGS holder probably sells for very similar money as a 66 in NGC. Nice coin, either way.
I think you're getting much better grades, compared to the coin, from PCGS than I have been lately. I wonder why?
Hey Ben! Thanks for another great video! Did I see a noticeable mark by the “5” on that ‘55 Jefferson?
Definitely making the case for why we should get rid of numbers for grades - too much variation, not effective quality control. Thanks, Ben.
a couple newer deep cameos i have almost look as if they have a layer on them that obstructs some features but are still graded pr70 is there something used in the beginning that diminishes over the stamping process?
I think it's just a marketing game but what's the difference or cut off point between white and blast white?
What is the highest grade you have ever gotten on a Morgan?I recieved a 68 from pcgs about 8 years ago.I have never gotten a 67 and I have recieved 9 66's.Thanks for the video.I like your site very much.
Lovely grouping of coins. I'm glad you got the straight grade on the Silver Eagle. I'm not surprised that you didn't get a PL on the 1948s. Not because it doesn't deserve it but you seem to have bad luck!
Hey Ben
Loving the 1881 S Morgans. Sweet coins.
How do you get haze like that off proofs?
Is it a side to the coin if it does not terminate?
Did all those 55’s come from the same set?
I would not be happy to get a coin back in a slab to find it crooked/rotated like that. Especially since it looks like a recent slab. They need to be more careful especially considering how much they charge.... I would be on the phone demanding a re slab.
That 55 Franklin should’ve definitely been a cameo.
Yeah- agree on distinguishing between a 1955 proof 67 nickel from a 68. I have a hard time believing they don’t use some sort of tech or magnification beyond what they claim to find tiny little imperfections. To the eye, even with a 20 loop, there’s nothing there.
Will a toned coin once incapsulated stay toned the way it is or will/could it change over time?
@harrybond1485
9 ай бұрын
They usually do not change on newer cases.I have seen some older slabs that have changed and would probably not get a straight grade today. Not sealed as well I suppose.I also think that exposing slabbed coins to frequent sunlight can tone even newer cased coins.
Of course that PL 1948 quarter downgraded at PCGS. Of course it did. SMH.
That Eagle was beautiful. I'm glad you got a straight grade, and a good one at that. Are there any dues for our club?
I really think your 81 S morgans were undergraded Almost all needed at least 1 point higher.
Ohhhhh look another 63 morgan!!!!!🙁🙁🙁🙁
comment for the algo
I don’t know why Ben buys those ms62 common date low eye appeal Morgan’s. There must be a market for those! Or he is getting them cheap…
So you get just as disappointed as we do when PCGS grades are coins not in the grades that we actually want it's definitely

81s 😴
Am I the only one who prefers coins like these raw? I wouldn’t have submitted any of these for grading. Only if I have something really special. Some coins have to be graded to get the full value out of them. But these are all average coins.
