PC Longplay [179] Blade Runner

An ambitious game, and a lot of fun. Looks like they put a lot of effort into the 3D but still some characters are very pixelated - just the state of the art in 1997 i guess.
Some notes: I didn't think to show off the KIA much. The shooting range has a "bug" where the targets take forever to pop up when running the game on modern PCs, some edits are a little rough (sorry, still learning!). I didn't need to go back to the police station before killing Dektora. I tried to VK Lucy as human, but she was a replicant every time. Clovis leaves poetry on your answering machine every night if you spend enough time in the game.
At 01:07:45, that's supposed to be Deckard in the movie talking to the fish lady.
Thanks to Evil Surge for his walkthrough.
Some alternative scenes at the end of the video:
- Dodge soup, kill special, let Zuben live
- Poisoned by Early Q
- Let Dektora live
- Badass rat
- Type pogo in KIA
- Wtf?
- The (kinda creepy) Lucy ending -

stunning game for 1997
Still one of the best adventure games of all time. Fond memories.
Before compression the sceneries of "Blade Runner" occupied nearly 249 GB! Absolutely crazy for a video game of this time.

The Amiga and its games were head of the time. You check into that, and you'll get a greater sense of where games came from. As well as accurate and true mult-tasking. Not invented by Microsoft.
"November 2019 is near, let's pick up the pace people!" ....I really wish I discovered this gem in 1997, Impressive.

Hi There I was one of the first persons in my city to ever buy this game. But the player in the video actually forgot to scan two items on the Disc at Run-sitter's. He forgot to scan Lucy's face and he also forgot to scan the getaway vehicle. Although he did scan the license plate, there is a special scan method where the camera shifts to the outside that you can actually see the vehicle in full length. Regards Gerann

I remember playing this when i was like 10 and not understanding it at all, got stuck pretty quickly back then, shortly after the police station. But what a memory.

I was the exact same. Bought it in a pawn shop, played on our PC. I definitely remember it being over my head. Looking back now, it is better than I remembered. Ahead of it's time as some say.
I love this game. I bought it on a whim when I was 16 for the computer I inherited when my grandparents died. I had no idea there was a film until after I beat the game. I was so excited to see the film, and it soon became my favorite.
didn't have a clue what I was doing in this game, but my god this brings back some nostalgic memories. I was playing this at 12 years old, on a 233mhz pentium processor. The mood this game created is unforgettable to this day. The music from Vangelis is timeless. Ahhh, the good old days.
the voice acting was amazing...

I remember(ingame) when i was in my apartment, the bladerunner music started playing, and i went onto my balcony relaxed and took in the scenery. The only thing lacking in this game is a square glass filled with liqur for me to bring onto my balcony :)

The atmosphere is fantastic. This game along with Unreal, Midtown Madness and Half Life were the first group of games I bought for PC, coming from an N64 and PS1. I remember my first PC only had 32mb's of ram and had to buy another 32mb's to get this game running smoothly. I think it was an AMD K6 processor at 350mhz or something like that. It wasn't until I bought a Voodoo 3 video card that I could do some real gaming on it.

Funnily enough I played most of games on my first computer without a 3D cards. And when I got one with 3D in the early/middle 2000s I played more even older games than new AAA games on it...Was having a blast on Dune and Star Controll 2 when Fallout 3 was coming out.
Got this game free with my first DVD-ROM drive in 1997 and was blown away. I imagine if there was a CD version the disc swapping would have been a pain in the arse.
I've didn't realise this game existed and I'm blown away by the writing.

I laughed pretty hard when they finished the shooting range and it said "-40"
Still holds up. What an amazing game.
This was the kind of game where you could save at the wrong time and if you missed the timing of the puzzle you'd be stuck forever and not knowing.

I don't trust modern game companies to do a remake or modern sequel. This game cost a lot of money to make, all the content in it (each game is randomized, who's a replicant and who isn't can change, there's multiple endings depending on hat you pursue, etc), the score, so much stuff. And so even though it sold decently it didn't make a huge profit. That kind of thing is anathema to the modern AAA industry, and I mean this without derision but most indie game studios just don't have the personnel and talent and funding to create something like a modern successor to this.

It can be a pain to get working on modern systems, but more than worth it because the game is not only fantastically good with Blade Runner canon, but is also a masterpiece in the point and click genre. This game is up there with many Lucasarts classics for me!
This game came free with our Packard Bell PC along with the first Fallout. Never appreciated how good this game was.

with CYBERPUNK 2077 coming out shortly, the genre is becoming more popular. Pitching this to the right developer as a remake project could be very...very powerful if done right.
I still have my original copy and the walkthrough guide book. Haven't been able to play it for Years. This was a Great blast to the Past! Thanks ; )
Really enjoyed all the westwood references in this game from Red alert at the arcade to I am the mechanical man music during the twins argument.
"THAT CAN'T BE ME??? Gimme a hard copy of that."
My ending is where Crystal Steele appears not to be a replicant and joins McCoy in confronting Clovis and Sadik at the crashed moonbus. The bad guys first try to kill McCoy by having an explosive device attached to McCoy's dog but McCoy has the dog try to fetch a treat he tosses at her at a distance which blows up killing the dog. Sadik tells McCoy that the dog was not real but a replicant but McCoy and Sadik have a shootout and Sadik is killed. McCoy then enters the moonbus alone to confront Clovis but finds that he is dying and reading a book. Clovis and McCoy exchange some last words and Clovis dies but it is possible for McCoy to shoot Clovis before he finishes his dialog. After that McCoy and Steele leave together with Steele suggesting that they could work as partners in the future and possibly more.
Epic movie, epic game, and the essential thing to make it all work even better... Vangelis. Fantastic.

so under rated for a game that won a bunch of awards in 1998... no reviewers have done much with it. The word is GOG or Steam can't get it because when Westwood Studios relocated after a buyout, the lost the source code. There is a ton of Copies on amazon damn it!

Super!!! And even more faithful to book, than movie. +eastereggs from another PKD books, as Runciter etc. Great atmosphere, very complex story, visual design and graphics, which after all those years,is still very good. Excellent job, westwood studios!!! A wish, game based on BR 2049. That would be great too.
