I love that Ozio shot a 279 and was rooting for Aulby to beat him and get that 300. He was even the first person to run up to him with his hands up in the air smiling. Instead of moping and being pissed off, he was happy for him and you can tell. This was when bowling was bowling. Love watching this match.

"How'd you bowl today, honey?" "Not bad. Shot a 279 and never had a prayer." You can barely hear Aulby's ball fall onto the lane. What a touch.

As a fellow left-hander, Mike Aulby was my idol. Total class by Ozio when you're one strike from perfection and still lose. Aulby's perfect game was so dominant. Every single shot was a solid pocket shot.

Wow! I'm the first comment! I remember watching this on TV! One of the most epic bowling battles in PBA HISTORY!! I also love how David Ozio shows such great sportsmanship! The strike winning shot was followed by a high five inniated immediately by David to Mike Aulby. Then Dave cheered him on to the 300 game! Only 1 strike separated their scores. Incredible!!! The only thing better? A 300 to 300 tie then a roll off! Still so epic! Thanks for posting this great video!!!!!!!

Favorable scoring conditions to be sure, but both of these guys were rock solid, technically savvy players. Ozio showed a lot of class in high-fiving Aulby when he knew he was beaten. When you shoot 279 and lose, you can't really be too upset. The only thing that decided this match was carry.

Bowling has a way of leveling things out. Ozio also had a trip 4-9 that could have been a split. Funny how you can throw a bad shot and get a great break sometimes...and other times, you throw a great shot and get a bad break, like that near 7-10 that really should have been a strike.

Aulby’s ball gets to the line a perfect microsecond later than his foot and I’m guessing he gets a pleasant little tug on the fingers when he launches it. Ozio is the perfect statesman for the PBA in his honest enthusiasm for Aulby’s perfect game, as well he should be-it’s good for business. Besides, who would be angry to see a guy beat the terrorist lanes man and his oiling toy?
