As someone who has NEVER played Payday 2, The idea of giving the ever silent Jacket a tape recorder with a WHOOOLE bunch of garbled dialogue just so he can talk in game is a stroke of genius, and I'll gladly accept it as canon for the main Hotline Miami story. And your cosplay is amazing! I have always been inspired by building props and such, and this is no exception!

Hotline Miami and Payday 2 having a crossover was just a wild experience and I loved it.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking this is built around an Arduino or similar microcontroller. He stated that the speaker was an amp-circuit to boost the volume. And I'm assuming the buttons incite a function to pick between a limited pool of MP3's off a SD card based on RNG. Or at least that would be how I'd do it...

This is great!! I used a micro-cassette player with recorded lines and trying to find them on the con floor was a bit hard, and super quiet. Before I took a picture, I played, "The following presentation is not recommended for all ages" or whatever that line is. Then I'd play, "Are you a doctor?" "I need a doctor." when I saw one of the many Doctor Who cosplays hehe

eh this is sad the cassette costs like 40 pounds on ebay plus you factor in the costs for making the thing with the speaker and stuff so it's like 60 pounds+ or you could pay like 100 dollars+ and get it pre made but there's only 10 available. wtf

The good old days of Phoenix ComiCon. The mask and recorder make it perfect.

First off, love the cosplay, the gun, and the tape recorder. I have a few questions. Question 1: Where did you get the mask. I've seen a couple cosplays with that same mask and I was wondering where you bought it from. Question 2: Where did you get the gun; and if you made it, what airsoft gun did you use? (I'm assuming that it is airsoft.) Question 3: Do you have the design documents on the tape recorder? P.S: Just in advance, if you answer any of these questions, thank you.

Mask was bought from a local costume shop and heavily modified. Gun is a repainted replica Mac 11. And as for the tape recorder, tutorials/schematics will not be made, sorry.

I noticed that too. Jacket's hand wrappings are done the same way boxing tape typically is, with tape looping between the fingers and over the back of the thumb. It's a minor detail that the vast majority of people won't notice, however.
