    I have been with EA and FnF, the devs are doing great, major leaps and bounds and alot of updates, they have started replacing the basic animations finally (didnt expect it) , and alot more balancing during EA. They are listening full and well to the community and its progressing quickly.

    Problem with these "social MMOs" is that as soon as the pop dips it kills the entire economy. Needed items become scarce and it becomes almost impossible to play.

    I mean, it's a social sandbox MMO. It's based around older games like UO, QA, Runescape. It's not really supposed to be a sandbox MMO, or raids ect ect. They are very direct on this, and have been since their announcement, and all of their interviews.

    hmm the whole PVP idea of building a huge castle and wall to block of an area and force tolls is a nice idea, but the plots belong to the player who bought them, right? So in real life you could steal land, but surely you can't steal a plot in this game.. so that just won't work.

No idea guess I'll go look on a website. Can't wait to logon and run to a wolf cave for 45 minutes , stand on rocks to avoid wolves and fireball them to death. So much fun. I get it. If they made it more solo friendly with regards to the time requirements into the crafting especially, I would be all about it. Many others would so from a business perspective I don’t get this hardcore direction. You want mass appeal.

  • @arbitration2481

    @arbitration2481

    Ай бұрын

    Hard disagree, Not every game has to have mass appeal. Look at things like squad for example, if they went full CoD, they might have a higher playerbase, but it is designed for a niche customer. That is why they specifically released a massive patch to overhaul the game back to its roots when they felt they had gone the wrong direction. This is not a game for everyone, but for some people it is a borderline perfect game. And that is just fine. I also am playing it solo and absolutely love it. But I also understand the time investment required, as well the need for trading. That is why if I cannot craft something or find raw goods, I take my blacksmithing things out and trade them for what I do need. That is what this game is about, the community aspect and open world sandbox feel. A lot of my best experiences so far in this game would be impossible if they took it towards a mass appeal, Just another survival game on steam, Direction. Honestly getting really tired of people not looking at what the game is, buying it/playing it, being disappointed because they want it to be something else, then complaining about it to change it. The devs know what they want it to be, the players that like it, while niche, love what it is. If you don't like it, there are plenty of other games that fit the mold perfectly fine that you can play instead. I don't understand people (especially a lot of streamers I've seen) rush as fast as they can through the game with their massive following, getting everything done in a day, then complaining the game is incomplete. I am 25 hours in and just got to a point where I'm starting to work with wrought iron, have a full house, working towards tier 2 in armorsmithing/weaponsmithing. This game is what you make of it. Edit: Just to give you an idea of what I mean. Because it isn't solo friendly, I RP as essentially a wandering trader that sells blacksmithing wares. During this time, I was trading with a lot of people, and eventually a day later 2 of them stumbled on my little solo build camp in the woods. It's a dangerous area, so I'm the only one building there. They are getting chased by 3 wolves and run towards me, I help them. end up sharing some food I just learned to cook, then they tell me they are going for hides to level their leatherworking, I also need to go find flax to finish up my roof on my house, So offer to go along with them. End up hunting with these dudes for 30-45 minutes. They help me find flax, in the end we trade supplies we all need, and go their separate ways.. That is the kind of community driven gameplay that works out, if everything could be solo'd easily there would be no need for any of it. And now, when I go out trading I have friends and loyal customers to trade with, and they know my house is a safe haven in some kinda dangerous woods. The world building and RP potential in this game is borderline limitless, which for the target audience of this game is perfect.

    I’ve had high expectations for Pax Dei, especially since we are developing a very similar game (Tales of Shadowland on Steam). As a CEO, my opinion is that it was a mistake to go into Early Access so early, and it has been an important lesson for our small studio. Our current plan is to have the game (or at least the early and mid-game) 70-80% complete before launching in Early Access. If we can manage with a fraction of their investment, I'm sure they could also wait for a more polished game. Hopefully, someday you will honor us with a video about our game as well. Keep up the great work, and thanks for this excellent video!

    @@everlonggaming1966 Just this weekend we had a closed test with over 1000 concurrent closed testers, so we are hiring testers, but there are things that you can only test with larger audience from different regions. Anyway, our game will be free-to-play, so people can always wait for the complete version and play for free on the release if they are not comfortable with a 80% finished product. We are fine with that as we know that Early Access is not for everyone.

    Releasing a game that's 70%-80% done sounds like a god awful idea and your ratings will likely never recover from that if it's poorly recieved. Release a game when it's 100% done and ready otherwise your reputation will get demolished like the hundreds upon hundreds of early access flops before it. Bad and risky idea for a small studio with no existing customer base. Games like sons of the forest 2 for example can do that, because the first game was super popular, the 2nd game was highly anticipated and it had a built in audience....For your game, it will be an instant refund and negative review then people move along to the next game and never look back. The current state of games is so god awful that you unironically want me to play a game that's "70%" completed and pretend like that's somehow normal...

    Well, you kept bringing this up as a survival game and such, and if you actively look at their posts, they state it's NOT a survival game and all these other things it's not that people think it is. Pve is more then a little jank. Bows rarely hit their mark, if you don't special, you're wasting your time in combat. And moving to the next teir of armor/tools/weapons out of the starter area really blows. The sudden jump from being fine killing Boar then seeing let's say an infected boar. You are reminded how unbalanced the gap is when you should be hunting with 10+ people? Na mate, that's poor balancing because they seem to have little clue on what they are trying to do right now. Now before you think it's all doom and gloom, it's not. It's a really pretty game, I just don't think they are remotely close to be ready for Early Access. If anything, this is more of an alpha then anything else, which they shouldn't be charging full price or $100 (Let's be honest here, you need the plots) for something so unfinished.

  • @henryramos4185

    You would think the devs would have noticed the major cause of poor server performance after the first video of this game aired. You even hit on it. The amount of Kilns and furnaces needed to make a single item is astronomical unless you wish to spend weeks making a single set of gear. All those Smelters and kilns with their graphical smoke and flames multiplied by 5k-10k players have to have a huge impact on server stability and performance. The other thing is what they envision the whole road tax thing which does not exist as there is no encouragement to PVP, there is no PVP solution at all. Player 1 " I would like to pass " Player 2 " You must pay the toll" Player 1" No " End of the story, you can not fight them period, you can not tear down the gate, if you refuse to pay the toll. The only PVP you can have would require both player 1 and player 2 to travel to an area two zones away to engage in any form of this game's janky combat / PVP. The game is not survival at all and that is not only my deduction but the Devs own words, as there is no impact from not having food, water, or shelter. The only thing that seems to be fleshed out with a bit of forethought is the flawlessly working cash shop and that should be alarming to most of you.

    This! Conan had a similar issue on their servers. People would have multiple crafting benches for everything because at the time there was not way to adjust output speeds and farming yields so it was just massive factory like crafting that would give you all heatstroke and give lag

    How I heard about this MMO project was through hearing that a bunch of OG EVE Online devs founded the company. That makes a lot of sense given what this project says it wants to be. EVE Online is a social MMO in the same way. Most things you cannot do in an enjoyable way on your own/with one character. Pax Dei is not EVE but I think there is an influence where it comes to player built economy and the devs have faith in that people will find a way to organize and manage the economy. All of the sudden 1 hour smelting time makes more sense because that really does mean a division of labor and roles for people to specialize and focus on. I think there problem will be having compelling PVP. EVE has always had that. EVE also has always had pretty meh PVE. I don't think their marketing has attracted the hardcore PVP type players that would bring that PVP environment to the game. Without that I think the player base of builders will end up saying "what for" and moving on. I'm going to buy the game and give it a try, I hope it becomes a game where players write the narrative by interacting with each other. I think that is going to require things to fight over, like territory, and resources. Overall I think the devs know all this and will steer the game in that direction. I think its a question of whether the audience for this game finds it, and if that audience is big enough.
