dactafi Holy Smokes! The Misinformation is REAL!!! IN your Post! The truth about Diamonds and Gem Stones is that they are from the poorest places of the Earth. The misconception comes from the fact that there are Corporations that reep all the benefits and glory while paying dirt to the people who actually go out on to their land to dig up the riches from the dirt they shit on.

The real value of a diamond should actually be far lower, the prices are kept artificially high by the industry, this is well documented. I will never buy any real diamond jewlery because it is an outright scam

@FullSend The difference is wheras the value of a card or other collectible is decided by the actual market forces, diamond's value is specifically and intentionally manipulated by the producers to forcibly raise it;s value far greater than it actually should be if it's true supply/demand ratio were taken into account. the market didn't decide what diamonds were worth, the producers did, and used decades of advertising campaigns and manipulated supply to get everyone else to buy into it.

I wish more people could understand how common diamonds are. Their main appeal is high index of refraction. You can make diamonds in specialized labs. You can't make gold in a lab. Even if you wanted to it would be so expensive that it wouldn't be worth it.

One of the best ways to find a CZ is to find that "Brilliance" or Reflection of white light from the table or a facet. In real Diamonds that white light is actually a reflection of the outside world, if you focus on it, it's a PERFECT MIRROR. No matter how small a facet or big a table. In CZ that Reflection is always imperfect and warped and never a perfect Mirror. The Light Refraction also has a lot more Yellow and white in between the different colors in white light. So it has its own Pattern, while real Diamonds will always Refract in a pattern of colors that cycles through the color Spectrum in a linear fashion.

Yes, there is a test. Diamonds are the hardest mineral there is. You try to scratch it with the second hardest mineral, corundum (rubies and sapphires). A second test would be to see how well it conducts heat. Diamonds are as good as it gets. A third test would be the index of refraction; diamonds have a different index than cubic zirconia. X-ray crystallography could also be brought to bear. Those were just the first four non-destructive tests that came to mind (#5, what Archimedes discovered, do you know it?). Pawn Stars is just a TV show.

Look at the stone true a clear light source, bare eye or magnified. Twist and turn, focus on the blue light "beam" The thinner it is, then more pure. In glass or zircona it will spred widely. Blue color spread more easly due to its low wavelengd and low frequence. Thats wy the sky is blue. And diamonds last forewer, since it dont brake easly due to its high carbon compact. I have teach some jewerly shop clerks in that basic.

@slipknotowns34 Just because diamonds are hard doesn't mean they aren't brittle... If you hit a diamond with a sledge hammer, it will shatter into grit. It's kind of like ceramic knives; you can cut stuff forever without having to sharpen them since they have a hardness of 9, unless you try to cut metal or bone at which point the knife will chip or shatter since they are brittle.

@ginalee77 they check the diamond right in front of you -_- in plain sight. and they are not allowed to take a customer's goods from his/her sight.
