Yeah people say he’s ripping people off. Um no ones forcing you to sell him the item at whatever price he’s offered. If you accept a lowball offer then you’re just ripping yourself off.

The reason the three-cent coin was introduced was at the same time, Congress reduced the price of mailing a letter from five cents to three. That caused a problem: with the price of a postage stamp at five cents, you would just put down a small half dime; but at the new price, people would have to put down three rather large pennies. Back in 1851, the penny was four times larger than the pennies we have today, and just as expensive to make; so Congress alleviated this problem with a three-cent coin that was as small as a half dime.
I love this I learn something new all the time and it has a great entertainment value. Thank you Pawn Stars and History channel.

Dude:I'll sell this nickel Rick: 3cents is the best i can do
You go, Rick! That was fun. 🙂
Who else is watching this in 2021? Rick hasn't change a bit in 11 years!
Surprised Rick spend more then 3¢ on it that’s taking a huge risk.
Seller: I have a hundred dollar bill Rick: I'll give you like 15 bucks for it.
This show has seriously given the history channel a huge boost in ratings
@GardsVision LMFAO! i have a feeling Rick wouldnt even hesitate to barter like that lmfao
8 years ago im sad and feel old 😨😨
Great show, I have learned alot about the pawn business and the old man is great.
this is my favorite show
Call in an expert rick. I don’t know this show unless you call in an expert
I actually got my first 3¢ nickel a couple weeks ago. 1867, and it only cost me five bucks at my local coin shop.
He was naming off all of the denominations that were made, not only the weird ones, he also said "a dime" and some other stuff too.
God, I'm an antique dealer still learning, so I would do almost anything to have this guy's knowledge.
Superb video quality
And people say you don't learn history anymore on the history channel. Pawn Stars at least still gives you lots of history, and is entertaining as well.
I had/have one of those. Gotta start looking for it.
At least our money is in metrics.
Condition and mintage counts are absolutely everything for older coins. Good years in uncirculated condition are worth huge money.
I love you historychannel.
Love this show ;)
this is the best still running show on tv as of now.
Neat thanks for sharing
True Fact: It costs 7 cents to make a 1 USA Nickel, a coin that is worth only 5 cents
The half cent coins were handy in pre-Civil War years. Mexican dollars (8 reale) were common in the West. To make change, merchants chopped them into pieces known as bits. a one bit piece was worth 12.5 cents, which led to prices with half cents in them.
i feel like he was reading a script at the end, his eyes kept moving to the left of the screen LOL
Finally I have a 1865 two cent piece
I really like that show.
You won't find any coins in my wallet.
Very interesting Rick. I had no idea they existed.
😍😍😍😍 bring back the 3 piece silver
Seller: i have a a chewy gronola bar that is signed by nick jonas Rick; Well its not actually signed it just part of the wrapping seller:no i think its actually signed by him rick: i get that but theres thousands and thousands of these, he signed his sig. and then made it into a wrapping its not real seller: so can we make a deal or not rick: dude its not real signature its a candy bar Seller: soooooo no deal??? rick: NO deal get out of my store (side interview) Seller; he is making a big mistak
I have a 2 cent in my safe
i have a buddy in town, hes an expert in coins do you mind if i have him come down here and take a look?
Never mind, I just double-checked my book. It calls them nickel three-cent pieces. You are correct.
All 20 cent pieces are rare and valuable.
really good question
I bet all his employees know what a three nickel is and you say down they might have a buddy
notice how every time someone says how much they want rick says, "NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!"

you brought a gold bar i will give you like 900 words for it !!!!!
The US also made 500$ bills and 10,000$ bills. Most people don't know that
I think I had one of those for awhile but didn't know it was a US coin. This guy is interesting.
@NICKLADD Is the 100 dollar bill US or Canadian or CSA or what gotta be specific.
waiting for season 3 on netflix !!!!! woooohooooooooooooooooooo
Pawn stars Rocks!!!
Seller:i have a genuine 100 dollar bill Rick: well its not a high demand item and it'll probably sit for a few years and not to mention i need to make a profit Seller:so whats your best offer Rick:ill go out on a limb and offer you 20 dollars cash right now
He'd have to check with an expert on that one.
I've never found any coins in my wallet.
@juxhin000 they still do . they are not mainstream, but the kennedy halfs are still minted every year. the 2010 kennedys look exactly the same as the ones in the1970s.
LOL 1:36 AHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
WELL SAID
i wuld kill to work there
I was 13 years old when I received a 1865 3 cent piece as part of my change after a purchase at the local Woolworths Store. I thought I was gonna be rich. I still have it... but even today... 60 years later its only worth about 35 bucks. The reason for their low collector value is they minted over 11 million of them. [sigh]
he was reading off a script... lol
Face value: 50 cents. Metal value: consult sites such as PCGS, Coinflation, XE, etc. for metal compostion, bullion metal spot prices. Numismatic value: consult sites such as PCGS, NGC, etc. or visit coin shop.
i dont understand why 50 cents coins dont exist anymore. they make the most sense
Only one I've never seen is the 20 cent piece. Saw all the others.
Every coin we have now has a corresponding dollar bill, except the quarter. Why no $25 bill?
@Greg-TC
7 жыл бұрын
tron3entertainment Because we have a $20 which is more versitile and therefore makes giving change easier. A $25 bill doesn't make sense instead of a $20 and it definitely doesn't make sense in addition to a $20

Saw employees at a Taco Bell in a mall a long time ago call the cops on a woman trying to pay with a $2 bill. No one at the store would listen to anyone else there, not even mall security, that the $2 bill was legit. The cop felt so bad for the lady he paid for her whole meal and told the Taco Bell employees he'd be calling their boss to let them know the sort of idiots he had working for them.

I want it........I NEED it!
I hate how people always say that half-dimes are an odd denomination. The only difference between a half-dime and nickel is that half-dimes were made with silver.
@Gerberbaby922 Lol yeah, its funny when he does the "Yeah..No *laugh*" :D. - Rev
Actually it is called a "nickel, three cent piece". they also made a "silver, three cent piece" (1851 - 1873)
I think the most entertaining aspect of this show is how they try so desperately to make Rick and the others likeable, and they just aren't. Aside from Chumley.
Now I see why this show is on History Channel....
Cool story bro, i know a friend that is an expert on cool stories
The V Nickel also had no denomination on it when it first came out. People gold plated them and passed them off as 5 dollar gold pieces because they had the Roman Numeral five V on the reverse. Coin dealers sell them and they are known as "racketeer nickels" in the industry.
Its a thrickle.
Now find one with your metal detector. I have and several fishscales ( old Canadian nickels). Quite an accomplishment. Or being in the right place at the right time.
We also made 20 cent coins aswell
The many denominations of coin force you to calculate mentally. It could be the reason why there were so many mathematicians back then hahaha
that's pretty good einstein.lol
I actually have a 1 dollar gold piece and although it looks weird to me it's kinda fascinating.
in ireland we still use 1 and two cents
@bumr055 i know that there are some ads impossible to avoid even with adblock but on this video im not getting one. i use chrome
Pawn Man is coming for you...
@akumie in america we have a football and it really doesnt make sense seeing how you barely use your foot playing it
I thought this was he bought a nickel for 3 cents so he could sell it for 5 cents
Hell give you 2 cents for it and that taking a risk
History Channel: the music on your videos or too loud, they drown out what he is saying.
Tenho umas raras te vendo amigo
The government also made a half dime and nickel at the same time
he said we....we being us....made a half cent and a cent....if i made a cent idk what i would call it maybe a ....penny
half dollar should make a comeback.
YOU'RE A NICKEL!!!
I've seen all those coins he said on spongebob
The 3 cent coin doesn't make much sense but when most of your business was done with less than a dollar a 20 cent piece would have made just as much sense as a 20 dollar coin.
He said half dime too. Isn't that a nickel? xD He also said dimes and quarters which are extremely common.
In the past, 5-cent pieces were called half-dimes. When the mint changed the metal composition from Ag-Cu to Cu-Ni, people started calling the coin a nickel because its color is unlike 10/25/50-cent pieces and older half-dimes. BTW, "nickel" is only an informal term, and the coin isn't stamped with the word "nickel" on any side (or edge) of the coin. The coin is more Cu than Ni (75%-25%), but its faux silver appearance misleads many people now to think it's mostly nickel, or even silver (0%).
I have two 1866 three cent nickels and an 1817 cent, I got them for $12
