The Wings got this talent in the sixth round! He was one of the greatest players I have ever seen even after 50 years of Hockey.

Definitely one of the greatest hockey two-way hockey players to ever play the game. If not the best. As a Red Wings fan I got the pleasure to watch him play game in and game out. For guys like him being drafted 171st overall and Henrik Zetterberg 256 overall is mind-blowing. Crazy. I actually think they picked 170 players before they pick Pavel Datsyuk. This guy was doing stuff way before these kids nowadays have we're doing it. Definitely the most entertaining hockey player of that era.

Wow! Datsyuk is from another dimension. His skills....OMG! Goosebumps.

If you can't appreciate the skills this man has, then I'm not sure how you could call yourself a hockey fan. One of the most talented guys to play the game. Easily a first ballot hall of famer.

That's incredible. What amazes me most is not Datsuk's hands or legs. It's his head. Every time he moves you antisipate his next step, and what he does is the complete opposite. And perfect skating and quick hands complete the move just like he planned. No wonder he makes the best defensemen look like 6 year old rookies. How can #13 think of all these things in an instant is the main mystery of this player. Hockey genius.

Are you out of your mind? Datsyuk is an amazing player every game! Every shift! Did you even watch Pavel in the Chicago series? Unreal how good Datsyuk is. Best 2-way forward in the game today by far.

Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby some of the greatest players ever. As good as they are and as good as they are at amassing insane amounts of points, Dastyuk is the best ever in my own opinion. No one ever has done nor will do what he does. Making the best players in the world look like absolute fools every night. Him and Bobby Orr did things that no other players will ever do. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Datsyuk is probably the most unselfish star in the NHL, it'll be exciting to see him and Ovechkin on the ice together.

@Mark...one could make the debate but one would be wrong. Yzerman was my idol, although I don't like the word, growing up. Yzerman was incredible...but Datsyuk is super human. I've never seen a forward with the defensive abilities he has.

I don't like Federov but I think the debate is more suited for him and Datsyuk. F ederov was so good that Scotty forfeited his incredible offensive abilities to have him be a defenseman at times. I heard a Wings official once say they were near certain he could have won a Norris trophy as a defenseman.
