After a long career in retail, I once had the pleasure of serving Paul Shane in a Dixons years ago, he was in a theatre show and needed a set of headphones to go with his walkman so he could rehearse. After trying some in store with his demo tape, he actually sang in the store to see if the levels were loud enough for him. Such a lovely man, was an absolute pleasure meeting him. RIP.

That music brings back good memories. My brother and I loved Hi De Hi, it used to be Paul Shane, and Peggy, and his right hand man I remember. I can’t remember his name but can see his face in my head Grannie used to bring some chocolate when she babysat as we weren’t allowed any. So we’d have a bath, pj’s on, and then eating chocolate whilst watching Hi De Hi. She’d make us clean our teeth for an extra minute as we had the chocolate. Then we would go up to bed and she made up the most wonderful stories to make us go to sleep to. Good days.

Loved Paul’s character in hi de hi , another comedy classic legend sadly missed.
A very fitting tribute Paul, well done sir 👍👍I loved and still love hi Di hi. They could not have picked any one better to play Ted Bovis. A TV legend Rip George thank you 🙏❤️
My dad and family where all born and bred in Sheffield and one of my uncles was a dead ringer for Paul Shane so we loved watching Paul and the immense presence that went with him, a true original whose likes will never grace our screens again Many thanks as always and have a great weekend
Paul Shane was perfect for Hi de Hi, him & Simon Cadell absolutely nailed it. Also made a perfect Dingle in Emmerdale, was much under used as a shady/sinister character, watch his performance in A Touch Of Frost, it's terrific 👍

Oh I loved hidi hi and you rang my lord. You know your getting old when your childhood stars pass away! 😪❤️
Hi Paul, this was great, it was close to home for me, I live in a town called Mexborough, about 8 miles from that cemetery! Paul Shane was obviously well known around my town, and I knew him quite well on a personal basis. I used to watch him perform as a comedian/singer in my local Working Mens Clubs back in the late 70’ and 80’s, he did this even after finding his tv fame! One of his daughters used to work in a bakery and cake shop in Mexborough and she knew my sister! Paul was in a pub business partnership with an ex professional footballer who was also from Mexborough! He would frequent the pubs on a regular basis to lend support to his partner, he was never unapproachable, he always gave people the time of day, never refusing to sign the odd autograph or to talk football, him being a Sheffield Wednesday supporter! I last saw him back in 2012 a few months before his sad death. It was at Doncaster Royal Infirmary after I’d broken my wrist, he was sat in a on site cafe with one of his daughters, he looked very unwell at the time and had lost a lot of weight! However he remained cheerful and still had the courtesy to chat to me! RIP

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul in the mid nineties. He was staying in the same hotel as I was in London whilst he was appearing on stage. He was a true gentleman. He entertained the group I was with in the bar with his stories and impressions. Always had time for everyone.
Saw him in Hidehi in Bournemouth, summer of 1983. Great guy.
You said it yourself, Paul: "what a funny man!" I loved watching Hi-De-Hi! back in the day, so funny and Paul Shane was perfectly cast as Ted Bovis. R.I.P Paul Shane. 🕯
Hi Paul, I loved watching Hi de Hi & Paul Shane as Ted Bovis what a character they couldn't have got anyone better for that part in my eyes . The little poem at the bottom of the headstone brought a tear to my eye . Once again you brought back some fond memories cheers Paul take it easy 👉 x
The man was a legend, loved Ted Bovis and all the funny storylines, he was brilliant, and I loved Oh Dr Beeching as well, just funny down to earth slapstick humour, loved it all 👍👍
I can't wait for this Paul. Im sure 100% it will be an amazing video
he was such a funny man, and I so remember Hi di Hi, LoL, such an enjoyable grave visit Paul, thank you.
You do pick and find good people, Paul, much better than your competitors. I wondered if you have considered doing tombs and effigies of the nobility of the medieval period, great aesthetics and interesting people with royal connections and historic stories of note. There must be quite a lot around the south of England. Paul Shane is comedy acting nobility!

Hi Paul, thank you… yeh I was there two weeks ago and just got around to putting it out. Ha ha yeh I’m sure the three of us will all end up at a random one, one day… and all see each other 😄😄🙌🙌 yes likewise, keep up the good work and all the best 🙏🙏
It never ceases to sadden me just how many of our entertainers have passed away without my actually being aware and Paul Shane is another. TV shows come and go and often their stars drop from the public radar for a few years until they hopefully crop up in a new show so it’s easy to forget and then something like your great videos makes you realise that the reason they have not been seen on TV for a while is that they had actually passed away. It brings it home just how quickly any of us can be forgotten once we’ve passed away but thankfully their are people like you Paul and the British Music Hall Society that do their best to keep the names and talents of our wonderful entertainers alive. As always, keep up the good work!

Paul as always thank you for yet another excellent tribute video to another great comedic acting legend and singer, Paul Shane (George Frederick Speight). As Ted Bovis in Hi De Hi, the station master in oh Doctor Beeching with the same cast members from both Hi De Hi and you rang me lord??. The golden age of television, so truly grateful to have lived through it to be able to appreciate fully what we are now undoubtedly without on the television and radio anymore. R.I.P. I had met Paul Shane. I was having a coffee with a friend of mine who owns a sandwich shop in Crewe and I said to my friend I think that is Paul Shane across the road. She said that it was not him. So I chanced it and shouted hi de hi. He turned around and came across the road and it was him. He had a cup of tea with us. There was no heirs or graces with him. May he rest in peace

If you've never seen it, watch him singing you've lost that loving feeling. Was very errrrrrm memorable shall we say 😳
Paul Shane always made me laugh in Hi-de-Hi.I think that has to be one of the nicest headstones I've seen.
Love that you trouble to find such much loved, much missed people who gave us so much pleasure over the years…. I didn’t know Shane had been a singer, just as I never knew”Compo” aka Bill Owen had been a songwriter writer, and wrote a hit song for Cliff Richard, “Marianne” back in the 60’s. So much interesting facets you manage to dig out. .72 was no age, and I’m so sorry he passed after so much surgery etc, bless him. Paul…you do make me smile, when your walking round and then stop to massage your chin beard, I just know your going to say “ I fink I’ve found it!” Brilliant…your a great character Paul, and feel like a friend we have known years each time we see your cheerful face! Many, many thanks. Stay safe on the roads! Love and hugs! Helen 🙋♀️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕😘☕️xx

Hi Paul.met Paul Shane once in a pub near Rotherham.loverly man and funny too.r.i.p.
Paul & his family lived across the road from an old mate of mine in Dalton Brook ,a little village of mostly Pit Houses ,they were much loved and Paul was often seen out & about ,sometimes in the Ale houses near his home .There was a Miners Welfare club that was always packed ,a pub called The Grapes was between the Miners club & a Working Men"s Club ,within 300 yards or so . Some good night outs were had in them before the Pits & Steelworks disappeared . As Paul appeared on the screen was just like his own smiley self in real life ! . A life well lived .
I used to have a crush on his mate Spike in Hi-de-hi lol Great video, loving your channel.
