Oh wow. First time I'm hearing the original. Fantastic BLUES ROCK. Great vocal full of passion. Guitar work is awesome and super tight.

Never heard the original, before. No comparison. It's like the 1st time I heard this song. A soulful vocal ,and smokin' guitar!

A big fan of Steve Miller’s version of this song and only recently learned it was a cover of this guy’s song. Now i’m not sure which version I like better.

Incredible story about this song... written and recorded by Pena in 1973 but never published, a hidden gem until 1977 when Steve Miller heard it thanks to the same producer and decided to record it... and it became a worldwide success...

I was just reading about this. Paul's album didn't see publication for 27 years. Apparently the song was written about his experience working on New Train, and his unhappiness with leaving California to record it in New York. Amazing story, and I love both versions.

We were denied a Top of Line Tune back in the 70's- going on further for far too long- as even one day was far too much- the shame it was/is- having been chained as it was, and was NOT at all the late Paul Pena who had the greatly wrong- chains locked up idea for the Tune. (4-)
