I bought this CD in the late 90s for the Fatboy Slim portion. I didn’t know who Oakenfold was at the time. His disc in this collection is one of my favorite CDs of all time. I still have it. This is turn of the century EDM.

These two mixes still hold up to this day as being research material for anyone up and coming deciding to dj live in an edm setting.

Still listening to oakenfold in 2023, and will till I die.

Man, for a brief time, Oakenfold was simply perfect. Then he got mainstream and his epic mixes disappeared. This brings back memories. Oakenfold was once and briefly the best mixer on the planet. I miss great trance music and great trance mixes.

I concur my friend and greetings. I agree 💯. Okenfold put together some once ina life time sets. They had meaning and soul, well put together with sound, keys, and vibe. They were intelligently designed to make u roll sooo hard

I agree about the mainstream part but not the brief period. He was killing it from like '96 to 2002 straight. That's not easy to do.

Those were the days man, Im so happy I was there when all was real and great, It gets so nostalgic is almost hard to listen to, so many souls left behind, I can only say I salute you werever you find yourself to be ❤.

I remember travelling from Sydney to Paris in July 2000 and I bought this album in a CD shop on the 'Champs Elysees' and played it travelling around Europe for 3 months with my boyfriend at the time - I still have the album and I still love listening to it - some 22 years later......I just love Paul Oakenfold and Fat Boy Slim....this is an awesome set!

Same here. Way back in the day I got this for Fat Boy Slim. Then I listened to Paul's portion and discovered trance for the first time and it's been my favorite ever since.

Still have this 2cd set. Was up for 2 straight days and nights listening to Fat Boy during the day and Paul O at night. Year was 2000. I took 14 pills that weekend total. Never been so high since. I want to feel that way again. I turn 50 this year. I think this music made me a better person.

I was fortunate enough to witness Paul Oakenfold live in San Diego @ the Electronica Music Festival in 2000 (I believe) and he played Solar Stone - Seven Cities. It was epic!

It only gets better with time, that was the brilliance of Oakenfold.

Found this gem around the time I got my drivers license. Flying down the highway on a 5 hr. drive beyond the speed limit caught up in the endless flow of the beats was my favorite!! Classic!!

I can light a joint, put this on & about the time the joint is gone track 7, Flesh, Jan Johnstone kicks off....it still takes me to another place 🎶. Been doing it since the album dropped

It makes me so happy to see others who enjoyed this masterpiece dual dj set. I found it in my local CD Warehouse (now deceased) for like 8 bucks back in 2001. Listened to it on full head wrap earphones with a compact disc player to go to sleep. Dreams were lit needless to say..

This is the first paul oakenfold cd i ever bought well actually my dad bought it for me... i saw the cammercial in mtv. Promote this cd in a cammercial still trying to find the cammercial ad on youtube. Year 2000. Wow

I used to have this CD set, years ago, and it just never gets old!

I remember back in the day buying his Resident CD's from the US for $100. I still have them and he is still the top of my playlist.

Honestly, and in actual fact even, this IS without a doubt one of the greatest albums everrrr produced. You can fact check that also....but it' s true...cuz it's a fact....yeah.

I always said this was one of the best albums Oakenfold ever put out! I got into Paul's music after going to a few rave parties back in the 2000's and stumbled upon this CD in a NYC vintage record store that had a DJ/electronic music section. The cover caught my eye with it featuring Fat Boy Slim along with Paul. Man I could not stop playing this CD in my car LOL still play it but on here on youtube! Just brings back memories of the great times we had at those raves! Any other albums you guys would suggest similar to this one or even other DJs?

Oakie knows how to mix rarities with the more popular tracks.

the vocals on track 2 gives it the most amazing vibe

Okenfolds has two versions of flesh, this being the better sound and mix allowing the chorus to hit and take you somewhere else is fantastic. His other version was on a Perfecto set which doesn't have the build as this like I said.. thanks for allowing me to text greet with ya from Florida. Be well

I think this is the only CD where it's possible to hear Jaya - Excursion in close to full length. I don't think it was ever released in digital format. Would love a digital copy if anyone has it. This CD is a perfect representation of the quality prog trance sound that Oakey played in 1999. Similar to this is his CD from the Essential Millennium compilation.

Both discs fell from a realm the ancients called "Perfection".

+Cojocaru Bogdan Nicolae 1 Agreed! It was night and day when I got this double disc back in the day. I was like, "Why in the hell did I pay for the Fatboy Slim crap?" Oakie was the only solid album, like you said, Fatboy Slim's tracks were all over the place!

Funny enough, I HAAAAAAATED disc 1 when this came out. Just instant "nope" so I gave it to a friend and his girlfriend. Fast forward to about four years ago and they're playing it one night. Turns out that disc goes ... places. And it's amazing. I still think Oakenfold's set is vastly superior, but that Fatboy Slim set is actually really good after all. Just takes a good few tracks before it really kicks.

Funny, I had the exact opposite response to these discs. I love the Oakenfold disc, but to me it was fairly generic stuff with the exception of that incredible Adagio for Strings + Just another day mashup. Whereas Fatboy Slim's was way more creative and mindblowing. I can understand why most people didn't get into the Fatboy disc, but to me it was genius. I still listen to it in 2017!

Fawst you are almost correct. The fat boy disc is incredible but you have to be patient with it. The Oakenfold disc is good but pretty standard for the time.

I swear to God...going from the smooth vocals on Another Day to Jan Johnston's "Flesh" made a full fledged man (yes in that sense) when I was a teenage boy. I was never more in love with how amazing epic trance could simply take you to places never imagined...still to this day...

Discogs says 2 CD's CD 1 - Fatboy Slim and CD 2 - Oakie. Two versions, both 2CD album.

I saw DJ Paul Oakenfold live at Burning Man in 2000. It was fun dancing near the 20 ft lighted mushrooms 🍄. Happy Cinco De Mayo 😎☀️💚!

Yes I remember. Carl Cox, ATB, baby Ann, Dj icey, Sasha and digweed are still my favorites to this day. I was listening to the fat boy slim CD of this 2 mix set for over 6 months before I put okenfolds side in and was blown away! My friend and I were like damnit we could have been experiencing some nice visions with this mix. There is only a few that still put sets together like this without all the A.D.D. sounds. Today's mixes are spastic and up and down to fast without allowing the listener to consciously understand the emotion of the music. Nora em pure is one of them she puts some great sounds together. But anyway I'm rambling on. Greetings from Florida and I'm Johnny Rush, I'm a terrible person for not introducing myself first. Nice to know some of us are still out there that still remember the great sounds from back in the day
