In 2004, Paul O'Grady told ITN how Lily Savage came to be involved in the British institution of pantomime despite having vowed years before that she would never go near it.
Paul O'Grady died “unexpectedly but peacefully” on Tuesday 28 March 2023, a statement shared via a representative said. "He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals, and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion," O'Grady's husband, Andre Portasio, said in his own statement. "I know he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."

I’d rather have left my kids with Paul for him to read them a story than I would with a Catholic Priest or a devout heterosexual man from Rotherham or Telford. He wasn’t woke at all. Just a nice bloke - you could tell that - and it’s confirmed by the outpouring of grief and sadness by the ones who knew him. He will be missed by all who loved him - including the doggies

I'd have no issue leaving my kids with someone like Paul O'Grady full stop... don't really get the comparison between him and straight men, catholic priests etc...

@@jackd9928 Catholics (some) - and in particular the Catholic Church - seem to have a bit of trouble accepting gay people, equality in marriage and certainly Drag Queens telling stories to children. My point was I’d be happy with Lily reading stories to my kids but not happy with leaving them alone in the company of Catholic Priests - see press for details - who - to put it delicately - have been loving children with perhaps a little too much fervour and if you don’t know the link between Rotherham and Telford and respectable devoutly religious heterosexual family men of a peaceful nature and their association with children - then I’m very surprised.
