He's very talented. His performance in Normal People had me in tears for most of it.

I lived in Ireland and learners would drive around without a full licence. It seemed to just be a thing that wasn't supposed to happen legally, but everyone still did it!

IDK how it is in other countries but the DMV where we get our license in the states is such a depressing place. The people who work there act as if they hate life and everyone in it. I hate being barked at by them as they try to exercise their "power." Also many of the DMV buildings look and feel like prison. America really cared very little about aesthetics when it comes to government buildings.

I’m part of the generation that was issued a license for driving motorcycles along with cars. I’ve never been on one but I was licensed to drive one in the state of Alabama at 16 years old. Lol

It's like that with international licences too. I don't have a licence to drive a motorbike in the UK, but my international licence allows me to drive a motorbike up to a certain size outside the UK.

​@joepiekl In Portugal, Spain and probably other EU countries you're allowed to drive a bike with an engine up to 125CC with your car driving licence.

What is it with Irishmen and not being able to drive? Andrew Scott doesn't have a driver's licence either, AND he revealed it on the Graham Norton show as well. James McEvoy can't drive either. And yes, I know he's Scottish.

Lots of people in the UK don't have licenses because the public transport system is great, and inexpensive. Having a car is expensive. Insurance costs a bomb, and you have to have an MoT every year, which isn't cheap.i was 26yo when I got mine, and only because I had moved back to Australia again. My mum was 32yo when she got hers. My dad was a teen, and his test consisted only of going on a short drive with a policeman, who then issued him his license. My dad is from Glencoe, in the west of Scotland.

@@deathbycheese850 Well I'm from Australia too and just about everyone that's eligible has a driver's licence. Mainly because Australia is so vast and spread out. I've heard that the nearest neighbours of people from some remote areas can be as far away as forty or fifty km. So you kind of need a car to get anywhere. And coincidentally, my dad was from Scotland too.

@@221BBakerStreet even domestic flights are way cheaper than the UK. I live in regional WA, and a 400km flight can cost over $300 one way. We don't have a passenger train, so to get to Perth you need to take a bus or drive. The bus takes approximately 6 hours, one way. Even our bus system is ridiculous. It only operates between 0830, and 1600, and is never on time. So yeah, having a car is vital for most Australians. I just wish they would repair or rebuild our roads, and not charge so much for rego lol.

My mum was born in London in 1922 and came out to Australia when she was three after my grandmother married an Australian soldier she met at the end of World War 1. My dad was born in Scotland in 1923 and came to Australia as a pre-teen so he still had the accent. It was still there the whole time but it did fade somewhat over time. Even though my parents have both passed away I still blame my dad for the red undertone of my skin that I've struggled to conceal for most of my life lol 😄
