Two things stand out musically in this song: McCartney's bass-playing and the brass section. Even people who don't care for the song usually admit that McCartney's bass-playing on this track was killer. Paul was/is one of the top five bassists in the history of pop and rock music.

Paul got the last laugh against dumb critics. Silly love Songs was a HUGE #1 Song. 5 weeks at #1 ❤ love it!

The song was not a love song, your right. It was a response to his critics for the obvious criticism. And Paul, being cheeky, even sticks a dirty passage in there. Did you catch it? It's right there in plain sight (or hearing). The footage was shot during the 1976 Wings Over America tour, the last leg of the Wings Over the World tour. The blonde was his wife Linda. The two girls were his daughters, Heather and Mary.

THREE daughters, you left out STELLA the little blonde girl, Mary was the one with the dark hair, Heather was the older blonde girl who is Linda's daughter from her first marriage, but with the permission of Heather's dad, Paul adopted Heather as his own.

Yes those 3 girls sitting in the red seats during a sound check, are their daughters. The dark haired girl (Mary) and the little blonde girl (Stella) are Paul and Linda's daughters together, and the older blonde girl is Heather who is Linda's daughter from her first marriage. But Paul later adopted her after they married in 1969, with permission from Heather's father Melvin See (Linda's first husband) Paul and Linda also had a son James, who was their last child together. Mary is now a photographer, following in her mother's footsteps, as well as continuing her mom's vegetarian cooking shows and cookbook. Stella is now a famous fashion designer in London, and Heather lives out of the limelight and is a potter and deals in making southwestern textiles. James is a musician and singer. I never heard Silly Love Songs played in a commercial. Paul owns those songs and would NEVER ALLOW used that way for advertising. The only movie I am aware of that it was in, was in Paul's OWN 1984 movie "GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADSTREET." You probably heard on a radio, or even in public places like stores where his and the Beatles music can often be heard.

Paul's bass playing is outstanding. That's the same Rickenbacker bass seen on "I am the Walrus". Paul stripped off the psychedelic paint scheme.

This song, in my mind, has a Paul McCartney saying to rockers that there’s nothing wrong with love songs, or pop songs. With that bass line, this song rocks. And it’s fun. There’s nothing wrong with that. If we strip pop out of our rock, we’re left with pop containing no rock.

As to the color comment, Is this because it was "film" and not "video tape" that was used.? Video was a newer form coming about.. I think..

I love this song as much for its lyrics as for its incredibly catchy melody. You'd think that people would've had enough of silly love songs I look around me, and I see it isn't so Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs And what's wrong with that? I'd like to know, 'cause here I go again

Paul wrote this song in response to a comment made by John Lennon, that Paul only wrote silly love songs.

React to "Fuh You". Boomers hate it because it has a modern sound and is legitimately good by today's standards. I had a few people react to it. Same reaction: "I'm shocked" and they went on to google it to make sure it was really Paul McCartney. 😄 It will blow your mind. 😐
