Same with me brother lass, he took a chance and bingo! He was at the front talking to the ladie fans and doing some kind of concrete fix. Got me an autograph and if I only knew where it went, I gave it away for free! Dummy me. Oh well. I wanted my brother to take pictures, too dark or not..once in a life shot lol...oh well. life goes on. He went to Johns in Saint Johnswood and Cynthia answered the door, said John was out, which might not have been the case considering the fans could knock at the door to say hello, probably a default answer lol. He could hear Julian in the background screeching about something. He could see the infamous climbing jungle gym thing in the back yard that was..? what, a carriage or something? Was in the news. 1967. Now its the old folks home ahead of our generation lol. What highlites!!

I'm 80 years young, and I'm reading his autobiography, 816 pages long, by Philip Norman. I've never seen the Beatles, but saw Paul when he played Perth Australia. 3 generations were at the show, Me ,my Son, and Grandson, it was wonderful everyone singing along to Hey Jude. Hi from Australia 😎✌🎶🎵🎶

@@markzappasodi the guy Phillip Norman is a very successful writer, his autobiography of Paul has obviously been Okayed by him, I'd like to recommend anyone who's interested in Paul's life get a copy, he's also produced quite a few books on famous rock stars i.e.Stones Elton John, ect.

@@justinthyme3396 the closest we'll get to an autobiography from Paul is the book Many Years From Now, which features interviews with Paul with his long time friend Miles.

It was about 1977. Linda came in to the Baskin Robbins on Finchley Road and ordered an ice cream birthday cake for one of her children. She asked my colleague if he could deliver it to the house in St John's Wood. When he arrived with the cake 🎂 she invited him in to join the party. I always remembered this because she sounded like such a nice person.

When I worked in the Saint John's area over thirty years ago I used to pass the gate to his house every morning and they were forever sealed . One day he and Linda drove out in a very expensive looking car and it is one of those moments that always stays in my memory . Later that day when I left work I saw them driving past me again in the same area. Never saw them again. The gates in those days didn't look as secure as they do now with no cameras. I think they were green in colour. One day one of his children at about five or six years of age poked her head out of the opened gate as I passed. I smiled ,said hello and she returned the greeting . No idea which one it was. During the period when he was forming the band Wings I came into the avenue and looking down the road opposite his house seated on the wall were a crowd of fans. 'Is this one of them ' one of them cried as I I made my way up the road. All heads turned to look at me and for fifteen seconds I was nearly as famous as Paul himself. Then one of them shouted out 'Nah,he's not one of them ' and suddenly I was cast back into obscurity . Oh well !

You are a lucky man sir...Ive been a Beatle fan since I first heard them in 1963 so they have been a BIG part of my life...I did get to see Ringo in concert and Paul in concert when I was 63 and it felt like I was in a dream, my youth passed before my eyes while seeing them....thank you for posting.

Unfortunately being a Beatle has enormous security problems, as we all know. After what happened to John and George, there's no doubt Paul has to be extremely careful (Ringo too). They know that 99% of Beatles fans are totally harmless, even if they are annoying sometimes, because they truly love the Fab Four and would never harm them. It's the one lone insane maniac who is the problem. Hopefully Paul and Ringo and their families will be able to live the rest of their lives in peace and safety.

In addition to cameras, big gates id have a couple of pittbulls inside to greet anyone who decided to enter late at night! Too bad George didnt have inside dogs to spook that knife wielding crazy guy....

Lovely video well at 69 years old im original Beatlemania generation. There never was so much magical music created as by those 4 Liverpudlian scamps. It was miraculous.

I was passing through London one time and it happened to be both Father's Day and Paul's birthday. I figured I'd pass by and leave him a greeting card. I stopped a few doors down to sign the card. and just then a young woman stopped at the gate, bent down and quickly slipped something under the gate and started walking in my direction down the sidewalk. I don't think she noticed me until she was a few feet away. We made eye contact and I gave her a slight knowing smile, which she returned. I then went to the gate and slipped my card, adding it to hers.

Thanks for this! I love that house. You forgot to mention that it was one of the centres of the "Swinging London"of the 1960s. Being a workaholic, I think he bought the house on purpose to be near the Abbey Road Studios. He was the first to arrive and the last to leave. I remember a story told by Cliff Bennet, of Cliff Bennett And The Rebel Rousers who recorded Got To Get You Into My Life at Abbey Road with McCartney as producer: “We were mesmerised with the things he did,” Bennett says. “New techniques like putting limiters on the piano, stuffing the grand piano cover inside the bass drum to get that flat-slap sound, things like that. Actually, I preferred the old ‘ba-boom’ sound from a bass drum, but we went along with it.” At two am, when McCartney called it a day, Bennett still hadn’t done his vocals, so they reconvened the following morning. “Paul lived just along the road, so he turned up in his pyjamas, carpet slippers, and a jacket over his pyjama top. Must have walked round the corner like that, which I thought was hilarious.” That house should be a museum. Oh...if those walls could talk!

Beautiful house! I met Fab Macca by chance one day in the very early ‘70’s, at Apex Corner on the A1. I was working at a hardware store & was outside putting some stuff in a van for delivery when I noticed a Rolls Royce convertible pull up. A very luxy motor to see in that location, it had the soft top down & sitting inside were Fab Macca & Linda! Watching him get out of the car was extraordinary... he had an aura about him that I couldn’t quite believe... as he walked past he obviously noticed me gawping at him open jawed, and said ‘hi!’, I returned the greeting & asked what he was doing in the somewhat odd neighbourhood that surrounds Apex Corner... “we’ve come to feed the horses” was his reply, there used to be horses left to graze in a field further along the A41 near Spur Road & he bought some carrots for them at the greengrocers then he was back in the Roller & gone!

It's the only house in the street that has a street lamp in the front garden. You can see it in your pictures. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window ( Abbey Road Album) was written because a fan broke into the bathroom window in that house. It was at this house where Paul threw out Ringo, after Ringo went round to ask Paul not to release his McCartney album, because it would clash with the release of Let It Be. Paul got angry. Threw Ringo out. When Ringo told John Lennon, he went round and threw a brick through Paul's window. Ah! The good old days!! 😂😂

My first visit to London way back in 1983, I found myself in St. John's Wood. ( I must have known Paul had a house there), but I didn't know it was in Cavendish road, and I wouldn't have known which house it was anyway, but I remember feeling at the time that I could be in close proximity to McCartney while I walked that neighbourhood. I enjoyed seeing the house, after all these years

Very good video. I always admired Paul's sentimental side. I didn't realize that he kept that London home, but am not surprised. It's not only a familiar place for him, but fans like me instantly recognize it. I live a fairly short distance from Paul and Nancy's Hamptons NY home and wish I could get the chance to see him.

I was walking past the house one morning on my way to work at the hospital there and the police had just discovered the body of Meatloaf's drummer on the steps of the house directly across the street. It was covered with a tarp.

Linda McCartney is from my hometown of Scarsdale NY (Yoko lived there too, for a time, with her family). The Eastmans no long live at 4 Dolma Rd. of course, but back in high school, I had a friend who lived in the same street. The Eastmans had quite a lovely stucco house on a big property but not too over-the-top like many of the houses there.

The day we were there (has it really been two years?!) the gates were open. Nothing going on, particularly, but it was just nice to see inside. Lovely neighborhood, to be sure, with lots of history for those of us of a certain age!

I was in a petrol station in Liverpool, I'm a Liverpudlian by the way, and I was standing looking at the drinks in the cooler and some woman nudged me and said "He look Paul McCartney's standing next to you?" I turned and looked and he was also looking at the drinks, I turned back to the lady and said, "Excuse me I'm not standing next to him, he's standing next to me"! What's the big deal? I went and paid for my drink.

A couple of years ago I managed to get into 3 Savile Row. Went upstairs and onto the roof. Was eerie. The same railings were there from the concert. Just sat there where Yoko was sitting then went to where Ringo was drumming. Spine tingling to say the least. Nice video by the way.

His main residence is in Sussex but this house is very handy when he or his family are in London.

I love him sooooo much! I was at his door once but I did not see him. I will go again in May!

I have only been to the UK once back in 1991. Being a Beatles nut I was fortunate enough to visit all of the historical sites in London and Liverpool. While in London I went to Paul's home in this video (St. John's Wood). As soon as I got to his gate a red Mercedes pulled up and stopped near the entrance on the road but not turning into the small area in front of the gate. There was a blond woman sitting in the passenger seat (Linda). A man of roughly mid forties with blondish hair and a blue blazer got out and approached me. I said "this is Paul McCartney's house isn't it"? He said "no he sold it a few years ago now run along". Not one to argue and doubting myself for a moment I apologized and went on my way. I don't know who the man was but the woman was most definitely Linda. Quite a chance occurrence and as close as I've ever gotten to a Beatle.

In the early 80s when I lived in SJW, some friends and I got over the wall and entered his garden to find this kind of space age dome, featuring a bed on a hydaulic lift to lift it higher in to the dome - Completely trippy!

I was as interested in St John's Wood as Paul McCartney's home. As an avid reader of British Mysteries and vintage British Literature in general, the setting is often in St John's Wood. I had always thought of it as more suburban than it is. Of course, many years ago it perhaps seemed more so. It certainly was a setting that suggested affluence even then.

If you are talking about Sherlock Holmes and the literature of the Victorian age London was smaller then. St John's Wood at the beginning of the 19th century was on the edge of the area where the better off lived. It and to an even greater extra its neighbour Maida Vale, were where rich men kept their mistresses. Hence why many houses in the area have a walkway between the front gate and the front door covered in frosted glass. During the Victorian era there was a very rapid expansion of the railways and a huge increase in the population, London became for a time the largest city in the world. Over time St John's Wood became a quiet enclave of the well to do, which it still is today.

I got to meet paul and linda at opryland in 74, I have a picture of them holding my oldest son, then a few weeks later got to meet them again and the entire wings band, at Jr's farm in lebanon tenn. in 74, I gave him a painting for his birthday and always wondered what he did with it.

Same wooden gate like Eric Clapton's house Hurtwood Edge Estate in Ewhurst Surrey :-)

Hello, I was there at Paul's house years ago...I took photos of the house...I could not see over the fence so I stood on top of the Taxi Cab I took there. There was a lady looking out of a window....I was lucky she didn't call the Police....someone told me that Paul had just left in his Roll's ...John from North Carolina.

Beatles recorded most of their records at Abby road,the in saville row for apple,and where they did their last public performance,that only they saw,and people on the street to hear.

Yes! They also recorded some of their stuff at Olympic Studios when EMI studios where fully booked! Just for the sake of this video I said they recorded all their music at Abbey Road, for some reason but thanks for pointing that out!

There is a picture of Paul on a bike giving a photographer, the late Joel Glazier, the bowman's salute. Joel had waited outside for Paul and took a shot of Paul as he rode away. Paul was not pleased.

I agree. Even if Paul is super-friendly to his fans, he is entitled to his private life undisturbed, just like everyone else. By the way. The house is so normal that anyone could have bought it. It's really nicely nestled in the neighbourhood.

It's a public street, everybody has the right to hang out there. Now, ringing the doorbell, that could be considered annoying Paul, but standing in a public street in front of a house and talking about the house is okay. Paul is rarely there, anyway.

@@agustinkafka25 I think he drifted a lot between Peasmarsh and Campbeltown. I think he only uses Cavendish Avenue when he is in Town. I went on the Abbey Road Studios tour in August 2019. Amazing place!
