John Lennon talked about the silly love songs during their Beatles era. This was Paul McCartney's answer.

Paul was criticized for writing sappy love songs, so he wrote this one in response. 😂

"Silly Love Songs" was a gigantic hit in the United States. It topped the charts at number one and went on to become the song of 1976. I heard it on the radio so often back then that I can still hear it playing in my head whenever I want to -- that bass line, the melody, those harmonies, the disco strings, the horn riffs. Even so, new things stand out to me when I listen to it now, like the piano section towards the end. The first vinyl record I ever bought was "Wings Greatest", a 1978 compilation album featuring several of the bands greatest hits, in large part because it included this song, but also because of "Band on the Run", "Live and Let Die", "Jet", and others. McCartney wrote "Silly Love Songs" to laugh off the critics who complained that he only wrote lightweight love songs.

You are so on target and so right to be crushing. What a wonderful song and what a wonderful talent Paul was. Only one small thing: this song was any Normas hit in the United States, number one on the Billboard charts for five weeks and the top song of 1976 in the United States, per billboard. It was a huge hit everywhere. I did not realize that it had out sold. She loves you and was the top selling UK single ever for a while. I wonder if it was “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” which replaced it?

of course you can crush on Paul. I have been crushing on Paul for 57 years since I was 17 years old. SO Crush on, girl!! YOU are just as giddy and emotional as I STILL get now. LOVE your reactions Cimdy!! by the way, the 3 children you see sitting in the red seats are Paul and Linda's kids, Mary (dark hair with a ponytail, their first born together, older blonde girl with long hair is Heather who is Linda's daughter from her first marriage, whom Paul adopted, and the little blonde girl is Stella (who is a famous dress designer now). They also had a son, James, named after Paul ( Paul's first name is James, Paul is his middle name) and after Paul's father who was also James. But their son wasn't born when this song was made. The song that was the huge hit in England and Europe but didn't do well in the U.S. was "MULL of KINTYRE", not Silly Love Songs, sweetheart. MULL of Kintyre was the area of Scotland where Paul's farm was, and they filmed 2 videos for Mull of Kintyre, one in the studio and one actually by the farm (I LOVE that video the best cos at the end all the people from the town there, come down to the shore where Paul, Linda and Denny Laine are and sing the chorus with them by a bonfire, PLUS a complete Bagpipes band is there as well. Mull of Kinytre was the one that made it in the Guinness Book of Records. NO WORRIES, it was a simple mistake, hon. SILLY LOVE SONGS did go to Number 1 in the United States and was a big hit everywhere. I was lucky enough to see that Wings tour (that is shown in the video) of 1976, in Detroit, Michigan. That was the first time he toured in the U.S since the Beatles last played here in 1966! YOU ARE SO INSIGHTFUL with your thoughts on each song, and you feel the same as I do about them and Paul. YOU ARE ADORABLE!!! Can't wait to watch all your other reactions to the Beatles music and their solo works as well.

For the #1 hit McCartney solo song after the Beatles split do "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" (1971). In fact, it's considered THE most Beatles sounding song there was, and one they might have done together if they hadn't broke up. Enjoy! ✌️😎

hello, good to see you again with this excellent song by Paul McCartney first I want to congratulate you for the joy and emotion with which you lived it "Silly love songs" is a fantastic Masterpiece, with several changes of rhythm and very well achieved choirs, at times they sing three different voices and they are three different lyrics, brilliant there is a little story They say that to a question about Paul McCartney that they asked John Lennon, he said that he only made "silly love songs" Paul's response was literal: he made a silly love song, and his most important phrase is: 'I love you' (and mischievously he finishes: 'what's wrong with that ... 'cause here I go again!) That is why McCartney is seen very happy in the video: for his success, but also because he is proclaiming his love to the four winds surely with excitement and emotion you got confused when giving the description "Silly love songs" was # 1 in the US and # 2 in the UK, as well as great success in other countries around the world. but the song that was the UK sales record in the 1970s was "Mull of Kintyre" (1977), another Masterpiece in another musical genre So, taking advantage of the involuntary confusion, I suggest that your next one be "Mull of Kintyre", but do it with the long video (about 5 minutes) it is beautiful and responds to the description you gave here kzread.info/dash/bejne/gaaW16aQmdeXc9I.html

Before he was SIR Paul McCartney, he was one of the most instinctive bass-players you could think of. This song was sort of self-justifying back home in the UK, when a lot of established bands were feeling the heat of the new wave and punk. Was it going to be possible to keep singing about love? When you have one of Britain's greatest songwriters (to this day) on duty, then the answer was an emphatic 'yes'.

THIS WAS FROM HIS ALBUM ( AT THE SPEED OF SOUND ) YOU NEED TO DO SONGS OFF OF HIS MULTI PLATINUM ALBUM GEM ( BAND ON THE RUN ) TITLE TRACK WOULD BE A GOOD START FOR SURE CIMDY :) OTHERS FROM IT WOULD BE: JET, BLUEBIRD, LET ME ROLL IT, MAMUNIA THERE YA GO :) THERE'S 4 GOOD 1'S BUT THE WHOLE ALBUM IS GREAT.

Yeah this is so funny there was a time back in the 70s when started this thing it on radio and they would play the songs on the radio and they would speed them up a little bit so that they could get more airtime for commercials and they got caught doing this and it became a big Scandal so this one radio station they put this song at like 45 RPM off of a 33 and a third RPM record so it's going extremely fast and the announcer said we're knac we play the hits the fastest it was the perfect song for that joke because he had him this song well I have to admit it's just a little bit cheesy but that's the whole point you know and that's probably why it was such a big hit because that kind of music was big at the time and disco was big and all that stuff and I kind of had a little bit of a disco beat the one good thing I like about this song is that little saxophone part that I had a pretty good tone to it it was a pretty good riff you know it's funny though I mean it's such a happy song but one song that was so good that he did Paul McCartney was when he was with the Beatles on Revolver it's a song called for No One I used to love that song so much and it went into his other song I want to tell you so you had this song that was kind of sad but then it went into this really happy song by George Harrison I really love the way it's segued so yeah maybe do those two songs together one song is called For No One and then the George Harrison song right after that I Want To. Tell. You okay silly girl I'll check you in the next reaction take care and you know I'll be checking in on Ya

It wasn't so much as speeding up the songs a bit, but the record labels would send a single version or mix of the song which would keep with the format of 3 minute songs on AM radio. That was common practice in the '70's, until FM radio started taking hold, and playing songs in their entirety. The single version of Silly Love Songs clocks in at 3:26.

You need to do a reaction to the live version of Maybe I'm amazed the version that he did in the early 1970s with his wife Linda and wings. It's much better than the record please do the live version of maybe I'm amazed.

Let Em In the other smash hit on the album Wings At The Speed Of Sound is as good as Silly Love Song in my opinion!

Everyone seems to love these McCartney ballads. I think Beware My Love and Time To Hide were the only decent songs on this album. But, that's just me! Still love your smile and reaction!✌️❤️

Wonderful, prominent Bass Line; I'd imagine it's Paul's bass; not sure. Pop Music today is so blah; it has no instrumental depth, it's mostly recorded on the same volume.
