"Candle in the Wind 1997" by Elton John, "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid (1984), and "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen (which took two bites of the apple in 1975 and 1991) have all topped "Mull of Kintyre."

Thank you for expression of appreciation for Ebony and Ivory. For decades it has been derided by hipsters (fringe dwellers who wish to think themselves avant-garde masters of good taste). I feel those who have grown to disparage this song forget that even though the message is simple that is what Paul is saying. 'It should be simple' which really is no different than Give Peace a Chance. Not every song has to have an academic message worthy of a Shakesperean poet. Musically the melody is stunning and the vocals of both artists sounding so beautiful together with both clarity and sincerity. Maybe today's modern world can no longer love songs of optimism, but I hope that is not the case.

Come on man, no Live and Let Die or Maybe I'm Amazed? How about Another Day? I get it, he sold some records with Michael Jackson but if I was compiling the list I wouldn't have included any of those since Michael Jackson's popularity had as much to do with their commercial success, probably more if we're being honest. As for the other songs, Silly Love Songs is syrupy, the kind of song John hated, but it had a great bass line. I bought Ram when I was a kid because Admiral Halsey was getting a lot of airplay but when I listened to it I discovered there was a lot more to like about that album. Too Many People, Heart of the Country, Monkberry Moon Delight, Back Seat of my Car. I really like Ram and consider it to be Paul's most underrated/unappreciated album. That said, Paul clearly had the most success as a solo artist. I just wish he would hang it up because he's starting to tarnish his legacy a bit by sticking around past his expiration date. He can't hit the notes like he once could and when he came to my area a couple years ago he wanted $250 for nosebleed seats. Needless to say he did not draw a big crowd, not by Paul's standards anyway. One thing I will always be grateful for is seeing the Wings Over America tour in 1976. That was Paul at the height of his power as a solo artist. He only played six Beatle songs that night but it was the most amazing concert I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot. The energy in that building that night was unlike anything I have experienced before or since. That is the Paul I want to remember and as I say, I am blessed that I got to see it. What a show!

By the way, I am very jealous that you were able to see the "Wings Over America" tour, that must have been amazing! It's still my favorite live album of all time, wish I could have seen Paul in 1976! This is not my personal list, but based on the number of weeks at number one on the Billboard charts. It seems that his team ups with other superstars of his time were very popular. Live and Let Die hit number 2 so it didn't quite make it on to this list. RAM is now rightly recognized as the absolute masterpiece that it is. It is an amazing album! Thanks for watching!

I thought John Lennon was the one who criticized McCartney about 'silly love songs', and that is the reason why Paul wrote the song! The Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder 'get togethers' ruined McCartney (or it could be that he was getting desperate when it came to writing catchy music and lyrics to keep the hits rolling, and needed two very popular recording artists to help keep them coming). It did work, briefly. But then the hits dried up! "Mull of Kintyre" deserves recognition. It is a fantastic recording! True, it meant nothing to America (the program directors pushed the b-side, "Girls School"). Yet, as been said by others, it was on top of the UK charts for two months! It was a #1 elsewhere as well. But, seriously, the duos with Michael Jackson (sucked in my opinion), and the great, Stevie Wonder did not help him in retrospect! My favorite McCartney singles are, "With A Little Luck", "Take It Away", "Don't Say Goodnight, Tonight", "Coming Up", and "Let Em In", in that order.

Let me preface by saying I am a huge Paul fan, growing up with The Beatles songs/albums playing in our house back in the 60s and 70s well after their breakup, and still adore so many of the early songs showcasing Paul's musical genius. But... it can also be said (or considered) that he really hasn't made a hit record since Pipes of Peace in 1983 (Say Say Say) and a lot of his material has gone the way of bland boring elevator muzac, sort of like Sting, Elton John, Rod Stewart tunes, just fuel for a morphine-like coma. Paul still tours and performs with great enthusiasm, and it probably doesn't hurt to be given "billionaire" status and now he can basically just show up and sell out any venue simply by running through a 60-minute back backlog of "Hey Jude" "Let It Be" etc. Fine, go ahead there mate, knock yourself out while you still can, but you have nothing left to prove to the music world. Meanwhile Ringo doesn't seem to be trying to prove anything, just happy to be alive and returning peace and love to the world, without the ego trip.
