Paul Hollywood & Prue Leith Pick The Best Snack In America | Bon Appétit

Ойын-сауық

Great American Baking Show judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith join Bon Appétit to pick the best American snack food in a head-to-head taste test bracket. Are Thin Mints better than Oreos? Would they take Ruffles over Lay’s? And will savory prevail over sweet when push comes to shove? Find out as Paul and Prue taste them one by one until a sole snack reigns supreme.
The Great American Baking Show is available to stream now on The Roku Channel.

@@Lizzo13 it's more ubiquitous than that. They're not sold in the American/world section. Doritos are sold in the crisp section with a dozen varieties. They even do Doritos dips. Oreos are sold in the cookie section but in the UK there's only one or two varieties, unlike the US. Pop-Tarts have been in the UK for 30 years. Lay's are known as Walkers in the UK. Like Paul says, Snickers exists in the UK but with different chocolate. Paul and Prue have definitely tried all the brands I mentioned. They are downplaying their familiarity with the products for the sake of the video's theme.

@@tortue1227 I mean it depends on whether they've ever reached for those items to try them, IMO. Especially if they're shopping at idk, Waitrose and going straight for the fresh food, maybe popping over to the biscuit aisle - if they EVEN are shopping themselves. Odds are fairly high they've never gone for Twinkies or Pop Tarts (which I sometimes do find in the international section). Doritos maybe, but again there are much fancier crisp selections, even corn-based ones.

I find American chocolate better than British chocolate. British chocolate is very one-note to me. But that doesn't mean that American chocolate is actually better, any more than someone else preferring British chocolate does. We all have preferences. Not only that, but you can't blame Hershey's for the chocolate in a Snickers. Snickers is made by Mars, a Hershey competitor.

For those confused on the US vs UK Snickers - In the UK chocolate manufacturers uses more milk and less sugar compared to the US recipes. This is true for each of the major international brands (Nestle, Cadbury, Mars etc.). In my opinion the US versions have a nice instant sweetness, but an unpleasant oily aftertaste. The UK versions are highlighted with creaminess rather that instant sweetness.
