I think Paul is the best guitarist alive today....Kim Mitchell had him on his radio show in Toronto some years back ...and Kim said how he was in awe of him and was seriously honored to have him as a guest....In kind ...Paul paid tribute by mentioning how he has admired Kims playing when Paul was a young man and how it gave him inspiration. Paul is a humble Giant and a gracious person.

Good stuff:) He is combining his minor and major modes in a Rocked out Country 2 beat, on steroids, AND playing tasty licks? That's not easy to do, I wonder how many of the critics who slam him can do what Paul does. Play it, sing it, lead it, dead on the beat, tasty and interesting. As the song says, "You can't judge a book by looking at the cover." Hey Paul, I'm around LA too. I'll look for your shows. Best to you:)

i'm glad you see the reality of the situation here cameltooth1. most musicians play the same sort of phrases and rhythms. from hendrix to paul to steve vai to guthrie govan, they play the same stuff over and over again, maybe not the same notes but the same length of phrases. and to be honest people may feel that SRV has more soul... but if there is one person who loves guitar and everything about it its paul gilbert. he feels every note with passion, just look at his face!

@guitarbridgecleaner I very much doubt he's on anything. After speaking to his drummer it's obvious how much travelling he does, so he must be tired. Bearing in mind that stage lights wont help the situation!

Blackshamrock1974 although this isn't for you. Paul has made a living out of music and is very humble. I am sure he doesn't hold himself in the same league as SRV or Muddy Waters. No need to belittle him. He is a guitar god in my book and you should be ashamed of yourself...
