I think she said something true. Daniel Plainview is indeed very inspirational. And it's not that we ought to or ought not to be inspired by such a character, it's that we cannot help but be so. It's the primal desire in all of us to defeat the other man. Whether it's physical combat, wealth accumulation, beauty standards, derision, debate, etc, we are all constantly trying to outwork and outcompete the other; Nature shaping herself into a more and more refined form. Scary, if you think about it. We are such cunning creatures.
