Saw Paul and his wife at The Beverly Hills Hotel Polo Lounge with his lovely wife. They were having a drink before a wedding in the formal dining room. I was with my daughter who is a great fan of Jason and Amanda Anka Bateman and I knew Paul from running Barneys stores. Paul would always come in on Saturdays when he was in NYC and he would serenade us. He was so lovely and friendly as we chatted for about 15 minutes and my daughter said that night I hummed his songs the whole night in my sleep😂🤣🥰. Love you Paul Anka!

Paul McCartney: "And now we'd like to do a song by our favorite American group, Sophie Tucker." Sure, it's an outdated fat joke, but I love that Paul Anka referenced that joke and none of the guys got it! This man has a memory like a steel trap! Smartless needs 5 or 10 more episodes with just Paul Anka!

Even though I absolutely love all your episodes, this one with Paul Anka was, I think, the very best! What a life! And now I know that he's basically written the songs that have been the theme songs of my life since the sixties. What an amazing man. Thank you so much!

AMAZING EPISODE! Really loved this one guys. What a great storyteller he is. It felt like I was listening to the life of Forrest Gump with all of the different places he's been and lived with all of these famous recognizable people; The Rat Pack, The Beatles, Michael Jackson's etc. Writing for Sinatra, MJ, and The Tonight Show theme. Singing in multiple languages. Are you kidding me? What a life. And what a great sense of humor. I could've listened for another hour easily. Jealous that I won't get to be at that dinner when you all get together.

One of the few remaining of a great era of singers. If being able to say “Paul Anka is my father-in-law” isn’t a top 5 reason why you married your wife, Jason, it needs to be!

It was funny for them to say, how could we get our kids to listen to a big box(radio), yet we are listening to them on a small box (phone). Everything comes full circle. Streaming not radio, small box not large box yet still listening not viewing.

His name is "PAUL FUC&ING ANKA". LEGEND. Yahtzee, Jason! [Edit: My mother recently passed away and I just ran across an event program she kept from seeing Paul in Monte Carlo at the Sporting Club in 1985. She also dated Frank Sinatra. I've never never been to Monte Carlo (yet) and though I was with Frank on a few occasions, never dated him.]

All due respect to Mr. Anka, but when describing how he wrote "My Way," it would have been more seemly to mention that he wrote the lyrics but that the music was a copy paste from "Comme d'habitude" by Jacques Revaux (a very famous song in the francophone world.)
