Although it wasn't a big hit,in my view it was one of their best,a strong Cat Stevens song imaginatively sung

Hey Tim. I was at that show. Forgot how neat this song is. Great show with Dave Dee and the lads and Eric of course. How lucky were we back then

@Timwgtn, Do you mean "Lovely City (When Do You Laugh)?" I've never heard of a Stevens song called "Lonely City." No, the Cat man told me years ago that he had nothing to do with any of the orchestral arrangements/production on any of his excellent 1960s Pop songs nor on this one. This was, however, arranged by the very same folks who arranged Stevens' early songs plus was performed by the same Decca orchestra who performed on the Stevens songs as well. That's why it sounds like Stevens' songs from that same period.

@ warwickwas, I used to have an MP3 of the original ( a demo, to be exact) version with Cat Stevens singing it. It was even BETTER than Paul and Barry Ryan's version here!

You're right it's not the same as Cat Steven. But take a look at the copy cat hair du from the past.

@@gabischuetz851 No, the Cat man told me that he did indeed cut a demo of this. It was available ages ago, on Napster. I've heard it, and it's even better than the version by the Ryan Brothers. Sadly, I accidentally deleted it from my computer one day (SIGH). Napster is also where I first heard this recording by the Ryan Brothers. It too was lost when most of my Napster downloads were accidentally deleted on my old computer. For whatever reasons, Cat never went into studio to record a polished, final version for release by himself. Instead, he passed this gem onto Paul and Barry Ryan. I asked Yusuf over twenty years ago to please try to locate that lost recording, or at least make a NEW recording of it, and make it available on a new Cat Stevens compilation.

@@Ponchiegomezsaso When I met and spoke at length to the Cat man (AKA Yusuf) in 2000, I urged him to either locate that demo or re-record it, and make it available on a new Cat Stevens compilation. If I still had it, I would gladly share it with you. It's TERRIFIC!
